web site login/cookie inconsistency http/https

I am a steam user (not sure if bug is general or specific to steam).

I have previously logged in via steam auth.

If I load https://www.pathofexile.com/, everything is fine. My upper left shows me as logged in and my current character.

If I go directly to a forum post, I am shown as not-logged in.

(any build or forum post will do).

If I relogin from that forum post - I get back to home page. I have to manually navigate back to forum post. If login and reload the forum thread link above, I'm back to not logged in.

If I instead load directly (http -> https)
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2866127
I am shown as logged in.

Bit of a problem from 3rd party redirects like poebuilds or reddit.

Seems like you need to be redirecting http-> https or need to change cookie settings to be cross http/https (I used to do stuff like this but I'm stale on the tech/best practice)?
