The God of Gaming...
I haven't done this, but if anyone does want to follow my footsteps in order to claim the title of "God of Gaming" first you have to master these traits.
1) Being able to enjoy every single game for the challenge it brings and then continue to challenge yourself, to break your records or how should I say to overcome that challenge with more difficulty, and when there is literally no challenge left, like you can't get a millisecond quicker then you put one hand on your back and play it blindfolded, and afterwards start playing it with your feet. Alright, the last one was a joke, well kinda. 2) Being able to restrain yourself from promoting (supporting) game designs that you do not envision to be the future for this industry. For the God of Gaming there is always a game to enjoy playing, and its up to those who want to gain my attention to deliver a better product than the ones I already have available. 3) Do something for the industry yourself if others are unwilling or are incapable of doing either now or later on in your life, but make sure you do it because the world we leave behind is the world that was left behind to us from others, and if they could do a good job, there is always an opportunity to do better, to be better. 4) Support the product you are playing, regardless how bad it's performing at times. There are many ways to support a game you are playing, like advertise it through a word of mouth, provide feedback, support it more when they use resources on features that feel rewarding to you, and less when that's not the case. Whatever you do, spend $ on the game you are playing occasionally. The good thing about Path of Exile is that you do have the freedom to decide how much you want to support it and that's also your voice (vote) on what more is to come or not. Most here would say $50 is nothing compared to the thousands of hours I've sink playing this, until most learned that the only other new game that released since January 11th 2011 that managed to open my wallet, to make me spend $20 on it was Marvel Heroes Online. There has been hundreds of games released on the market in nearly a decade that has failed to take a cent from me, and that comes from the experience of once playing and spending more than anyone I've known for the industry through the 90's and early 2000. If Path of Exile for me was 10-20x more rewarding to play then I would be supporting it 10-20x more, it's that simple. Example, I supported GGG with $10 at the end of September, and this is mainly because I felt they needed financial support now more than these past 5+ years. I am not going to go into details why, but a sequence of what is in my opinion and to many others (poor) decisions did cost them a lot... When someone is on their knee, when you feel they are at their worst... that's when it's the most appropriate to give them a hand and help em. Do not mistake that I am encouraging bad (poor) decisions. There is fun and then there is more fun when you also get paid while having fun. Most are driven by money, which is another term of "reward", and this is quite normal, which is why GGG should understand best the value that comes from giving more and bigger opportunities for their player base to feel "rewarded" for playing their repetitive game. Look at the period when WOW: Warlords of Draenor lost "millions" and the Diablo 3 failure. Between both of those releases Path of Exile released in the middle of them. Of course, there was some other competition, but GGG did most of the damage when a small, indie company showed what it can deliver, compared to what Blizzard was delivering. Chris Wilson had one advantage that Blizzard didn't and that was years of dedication developing his product. That's the difference when resources and support is smaller, indie companies need years to deliver what GGG can deliver in months. GGG is no longer the owner of this game, so it's no longer on Chris Wilson to make "financial sacrifices" to impress and win back former supporters as well as draw in new ones. They have an option to reinvest big in their product or to move on to different markets if they allow this "100 million" investment to "sink". Not even a year ago Chris Wilson was at the top in the industry, hosting Exilecon and presenting Path of Exile 2... Oh, how things have changed quickly since. He has a big vision, always had and that is one of his greatest traits and what will also cost him the most. He aimed to make a product too big that he could handle, but he decided to make it anyway, and then it paid off. Seven years later his product is fundamentally still the same and that's a problem. He needs to recognize his product's greatest strengths and weaknesses, and then focus on improving on the strengths to stay ahead of his competition. Great leaders are great because they are always one move ahead of their opponents. When you know what to expect you'll know what you need to do to prepare for it, so please Chris be ahead and if you feel that you are not, it's never a bad idea to seek "help" or should I say "assistance", better than being disliked by many for having the opportunity to do something and then deliver something else. There are literally thousands of developers out there who I'm sure dream to be in your position, to have the opportunity to keep making a great game for millions to enjoy, that is if you are still the captain on your ship as you stated and not Tencent... and even Tencent I'm sure is smarter than Activison-Blizzard, based on their "merged" stock value. Once there was no Activision... it was just Blizzard, just like how once there wasn't a Tencent behind GGG. I suspect kopgogero is charan.
Has anyone noticed they both have clean punctuation and similar articulation? | |
" Fuck. That. And not only was it a ridiculous thing to 'suspect', you lost The Game sharing it. WTG. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable. Last edited by Foreverhappychan on Oct 17, 2020, 1:15:34 AM

They may not pay you to play their game for them, but they might pay you to stfu and go away
Then again, these days, all publicity is good publicity, right? [19:36]#Mirror_stacking_clown: try smoke ganja every day for 10 years and do memory game Last edited by crunkatog on Oct 17, 2020, 1:31:57 AM

" I just saw a video that indicates that might not be true. What is it about a huge number next to a down arrow or a thumbs-down that makes clicking it so...compelling? https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

" This really made me laugh, one because Mr Kupo doesn't write very well. Two, Karpo caused so much frustration it caused him to be probated. And lastly because I can literally picture him so maddened by this comment that he need to take a few moments so he didnt mash whatever device he is browsing on at the moment to bits. In order for this to be true, an actual split personality would have to diagnosed for Koponetzero to exist in the same mind of Mr. Chan "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln Last edited by DarthSki44 on Oct 17, 2020, 3:11:34 AM

" Nah, I just sort of blinked. Like, fucking really? I always figured having clean punctuation and articulation would make my position easier to understand, not easily confused with that of someone almost diametrically opposed to me on virtually every significant level. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

^^
For me it's not the mechanics of the writing, hell anyone can be good at punctuation and articulation. The inability to string thoughts together logically (especially in his long posts) can make reading them even more painful than the content itself. Typcially the journey is hardly worth it if you can actually make it through the whole thing. Even when I've disagreed with what you wrote, rarely, if ever, am I left wondering what the fuck was that, or got lost riding along some bizzare stream of consciousness on the raft of an egomaniac. "Wow, had to put that in spoilers to protect other people from losing The Game. Also I can read Charan's posts just fine but it takes a large amount of effort for me to read Kopogero's posts, usually. |
