Watcher's Eye. Why is it so expensive ?

Why is thi jewel so expensive ?
I mean I've seen prices going from 1-2 ex up to 100ex with most of them priced aroung 5 ex. What makes it so good ?
Is it only for min-maxing the build or the aura modifier makes a really big difference ?

Some aura modifiers are super strong.

The gain ES from mana while affected by clarity can give 2-3k ES or more. Or something like additional impales while affected by pride is a crazy amount of DPS for a jewel.

Just to name a few.
Standard is not the best place to research market. In league, the low end Watcher's eye are selling for 10-20 chaos, and high end ones with 80+ exalts.

Usually the Watcher's eye jewels that are expensive, are the ones that have 2 or 3 mods that are good for a specific build.
I was looking up into ps4 market. Prices are very different from pc I think, like another economy. Have seen only few of them selling for chaos and most of them sell for 3-5 ex but have seen one seeling for 100ex with pride and precision mods (probably something else too, don't remember).
I got one for 3ex with 25% chance to impale for my cycloner. Will run some maps today to see the difference. I guess only the boss makes a difference because I was killing everything just by moving with cyclone.
Some watcher eye mod values become legacy.
Some combos are extremely powerful. eg. this was several hundred exalts before the coming nerf. It will be way more afterwards.

Huge extra ES, ES regen/recharge and ES leech from one item.

- you can only get recovery rate from belts (24%). This adds another 30%
- there's only 50% max ES leech rate on the tree. This adds another 30%
- also big flat ES from clarity bonus

Sadly you wasted 3 ex. The 25% chance to impale wont do anything as you should be over 100% chance to impale from passives/gems.

The mod that adds alot of damage is "impales you inflict last X additional hits while affected by pride"
You need to Farm an endgame boss for a chance to drop one and when it drops it is usually shit. That's why it is expensive.
I played PoE for nearly 1200H and never dropped one myself(I often never came into reach of this endgame boss, burned out or hit a wall with my build). And one of my friends who is far more dedicated in killing endgame bosses also never dropped one.
That's the second reason they are expensive.

I really dislike the Concept of Watchers Eye.
First every "Look i do 100M Shaper DPS" Build guides use one and if you drop the 50Ex Watchers Eye it losses 50M DMG.
Second a Watchers Eye is hard to get but would really enable some low performing Builds to finally be viable. But the low performing Builds will never be in reach to get one.

The whole concept of Watchers Eye is to make powerful Builds more Powerful. And that's stupid if you ask me.
The Synthesis Rings are in the same spot but are sometimes cheaper to get but much harder without trade.

I would much rather see the Mods and mechanics of the Watchers Eye/ Sythesis Rings placed in mid to early late game to give your build a boost to better scale the Atlas to be able to maybe play some more diverse Builds. Maybe give the player the ability to choose from an Item that fills this place when finishing Akt 10 that is non tradeable. This would be exciting when finishing the Story and very engaging to go into mapping to try out a new power boost.

For now the Watchers Eye, in most cases, is an Item for the top 1% to become even stronger and this trivializes the game and is not very engaging for players who encounter the existence of this item.

No Watchers Eye only dropping from only emdgame bosses is fine. Having it available early to mid endgame would be too easy.

Also the regular Elder fight is probably the easiest endgame boss IMO. If anything I'd say they should up the drop chance. I got a nice 2 extra Impale stacks WE from my first Elder kill..... Haven't seen 1 after 6 kills and protected Shaper during the 2nd phase every time

Moving the Mods that a Watchers Eye Provide at the start of the Atlas for example does not means you move it 1 by 1.

The Build expanding/Altering Powerful Mods could be provided by another way.
