Current Scorching Ray Mechanics

How do multiple sources of Scorching Ray (SR) stack?

I know SR only applies its exposure when it reaches maximum stacks now. However, what if I and 2 totems casts scorching ray for example.

Is the debuff for maximum stacks reached when we cumulatively have enough stacks or when one of us does?

I do know the damage itself stacks for each sources though.

Also, does SR counts for triggering Immolate Support?

How about Righteous Fire (RF), does it counts for triggering Immolate Support?

Wondering because I am planning a build for Heist and I need to see how this actually works.

Since 3.2.0b (Bestiary) a nasty bug that did not allow multiple totem's Scorching Ray to stack the damage has been fixed. For some reasons Wikia did not register this change on the Scorching Ray page. This is the topic we used to report the bug. At page 10 there is a community feedback about how the fix went and how it felt. We are talking about 2 years ago, so maybe some collateral bugs have been fixed.

Reaching maximum stack with one totem will apply Fire Exposure for -25% Fire Resistance. This will overwrite other weaker Fire Exposures (like Avatar of the Veil's Fire Exposure from Raider ascendancy), since Exposures do not stack. According to the topic, each Fire Totem applies its own stack of debuff, so you need to reach 8 Stacks (or maximum stacks anyway) with 1 totem to trigger the Exposure

Since Scorching Ray do not hit, neither Immolate nor Combustion can support that skill. As the skill states, the skill applies a burning debuff, so it will be boosted by anything that increases Burning damage (like Burning Damage Support), but will get NO benefit for anything that alters burning damage from ignition (for example, Emberwake will not make Scorching ray burn "slowlier", and you can still use Scorching Ray while using a Flamesight, which makes you character unable to ignite).

An enemy under a Scorching Ray's effect is, however, Burning, and will let any other skill supported by Immolate get the extra fire damage with hits against them... assuming the skill hits!

Righteous Fire and Scorching Ray have a similiar "non-ignite burning DoT that does not hit", so the same rules apply: they cannot be directly supported by Immolate, but will make any other hitting skill supported by Immolate gain bonus damage when hitting them

Thanks for the reply.

I had seen that thread but just wasn't sure even after reading it.

And yes, I did meant Immolate for a second skill (or primary in this case) since I meant for SR totems to stack the debuff and exposure to increase the damage of a primary damage skill.

I am guessing SR's exposure does not stack with Wave of Conviction either correct?

I am guessing the Combustion's ignite debuff and a curse would stack however as well as a Elemental Equilibrium debuff.
No, Exposures do not stack. Only the strongest Exposure will be applied. Wave of Conviction's Exposure is -25%, which is the same from a Scorching Ray. If any, Wave would apply its exposure way quickier than Scorching Ray since it just needs to hit an enemy, rather than waiting for a buildup, and only needs for the highest damage dealt to be fire in order to proc it. You would still want the exposure from Scorching Ray in those cases you cannot allow yourself to hit an enemy - this is the case of Hall of Grandmasters and their Cast when Damage Taken Grandmasters, or if you go Elemental Equilibrium and use a non-fire hit as the main source of proccing the -50% fireRes

Fire Exposure would, however, add its malus to other sources of fire resistance reduction, such as Combustion's debuff on ignited enemies, Elemental Weakness/Flammability or good old Elemental Equilibrium as previously stated
The nice part of these skills that do not hit is that they do not trigger EE. You can manually cast a non-fire element and benefit from the -50% resistance. Sadly that is not comparable with Combustion nor any pure fire thematic builds.
