Please help to understand the Warstaff value
Hi! Could someone poe-experienced be so kind to explain whether and why this staff has or has not any real value for fire-based builds? What is indeed increased here by "Increased fire damage"?
I understand more or less well about pure melee weapon and pure caster weapon, but here I am lost in my understanding... Thanks a lot! " Last bumped on Jul 16, 2020, 9:31:49 PM

Hey!
It doesn't. The fire mods there apply only to attacks with the exception of % increased fire damage which applies to all fire damage. Attacks, spells and secondary sources such as the corpse fire explosions from the gem former known as abyssal cry. The increased fire damage mod is global, not local so that's why it doesn't multiply the flat attack fire mod on the staff unlike you see % Inc phys doing for flat phys. The mod tiers are too low and the base weapon is also a two handed melee weapon which generally have too low base attack speeds to properly abuse flat elemental mods and are much easier to scale through phys and then converted to fire. For caster staves one usually wants +gem levels for scaling purposes, but even then extra mods may just dilute the mod pool. I cba to check for this particular case and I'm on mobile so can't see the ilvl either. In that sense a warstaff may or may not be better for avoiding too many unwanted mods. |
