Perforate Attack Range in Blood Stance
As the league announced changes to perforate and slams in general I wanted to try the playstyle of using a single skill and switching stances for AoE and single target.
The single target damage of perforate is amazing when it hits the enemy dead center. When the enemy comes too close to the character the fixed point of impact for perforate makes it less and less likely for a spike to hit the target. This ends up in about only a single spike hitting now and then. It does happen a lot because most of the enemies that are melee have less range then perforate. I've tested this both with and without "Concetrated Effect Support" and "Always Attack Without Moving" enabled and disabled. From a playstyle perspective I've got two ideas to fix this issue: 1. The simplest solution would be to reduce the distance from the character the impact of blood stance perforate hits so that targets at minimum melee range are much closer to the center of percussion. This would mean players had to get slightly closer to the target for optimal damage but increase the quality of life a lot by not being required to step back whenever bosses or mobs come too close. 2. Another, more intricate solution, would be to have perforate not target a location with a fixed distance from the character. Instead the center of percussion is selected according to strike skill logic. When no enemy is withing melee strike range (determined by +X to melee strike range) perforate targets the location of the cursor if the cursor is within this range. When the cursor is not in range perforate targets the location at maximum melee range which directly lies on a straight line from the center of the character to the cursor. When an enemy is within melee range the namelock / strike skill logic applies. Perforate then always targets the enemy within melee strike range and the center of percussion never surpasses an enemy standing too close to the player character. Would love to see this to be fixed as I am loving the idea of stance switching and perforate until PoE 2 allows multiple 6L. Keep up the good work! Last bumped on Jun 29, 2020, 6:50:00 AM
