Can you download the new patch early?

I know you used to be able to, and if so around how many hours before launch can I download the patch, and is it available for Steam or just the standalone launcher?

We are hoping to provide a torrent link later today but keep in mind it's a full redownload of the client and you'll still have further patching to do at launch. (Only for standalone client).
Three hours before the countdown ends, the realm will go down. Patching usually begins within 30 minutes. When the countdown ends, Harvest will be live. | |

Hi, When will steam in the UK have the patch ready for download please? From memory, it isn't until league launch time, which means I have to wait an hour before the patch is installed. (Note that the download is quick but the updating in steam takes ages).
