Performance drops fixed by compatibility mode

Hello everybody,

after a long trial and error, I finally found a solution that couldn't have been easier for my lags, stuttering, fps spikes etc. POE never ran smoothly.

The solution that helped me:

Set the game to Windows 8 compatibility mode. Obviously, Windows 10 seems to be causing some problems.

1. Go to the Path of Exile folder
2. Right click on your start .exe. (note 32 and 64 bit)
3. Select properties.
4. Select Compatibility in the upper tabs.
5. Set the check mark under Compatibility mode.
6. Select a Windows version, preferably Windows 7 or 8.
(I put it on Windows 8)
7. Click Apply at the bottom and then OK.
8. That's it.

At least it solved every problem for me.

1. Long loading times.
2. Strong stutters after loading times.
3. Stutters during normal game play.
4. Strong FPS drops to zero.
5. Always strong FPS drops.
6. Strong latency increase.
7. Still images when starting events (Strongbox, Delirium, Breach ... just about everything)

The list is endless. I had so many problems that I didn't know where to start.
Now everything is running smoothly again. I hope that it will help some people as well as me.
Of course there are still FPS drops, but for me only in full parties. However, they no longer drop rapidly to zero, it is still playable at 20-30 FPS. Just not pleasant. So I can make my Sulphite Rotas normal.
