Buying MTX through Steam

Is there an option to do that ?
I mean the game is on steam, can't you use steam balance to get MTX ? I don't have my account linked to steam, and I would like to avoid that. Really want the standalone...is there any known way ? You can buy points and supporter packs through Steam using your Steam wallet, it's how I have bought most of mine. You probably have to be using the Steam version of the game, linked to your Steam account in order to do so. I don't think linking your GGG account to Steam causes you to not be able to use the standalone client, people switch back and forth all the time from what I have read.

So I can link my Poe account to Steam , buy the MTX and go back to the stand alone ?
Would really like to know how you can do that. Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

" You should be able to link a Steam account to your standalone account using the Manage account -> Steam option on your profile page. If your Path of Exile account was created as a standalone account with an email address/password combination you should be able to access this after linking your Steam account simply by continuing to sign into the website using the email address/password combination. However, if you wish to unlink a Steam account after making any purchases using your Steam Wallet you should be able to do so using the following link: https://www.pathofexile.com/my-account/steam.
