It’s such a sad moment, our elderly are at risk...
The few whom are veterans of this forum are aware that I’ve have participated in a lot of volunteer work with senior citizens. Hell I’ve posted some of my stories... As I write this I’m a little misty eyed that a majority of victims are senior citizens.
It is our moral obligation to protect our senior citizens, to categorize this epidemic as an elder problem is immoral and irresponsible. Please if you know anyone elderly protect them , spend time with them... Be humane. -Sol "Another... Solwitch thread." It's pretty fucking grim but I'm going to confess something here: I'm glad my grandmother passed in 2012 and isn't around to face this one, because I remember the conditions at one of her 'care' facilities. The word that comes to mind regarding the atmosphere of that nursing home is 'funereal'. I rarely saw residents get visitors outside of Christmas or Easter. The nurses were neglectful, as though already accepting these people were dead. Opioid abuse was rampant; several residents had stashes that would have a street value in the thousands. My grandmother once spent hours ignored in her room, wheezing and on the edge of consciousness; we had to call the ambulance when we found her that way.
Imagining a new, largely mysterious virus sweeping through that sort of miserable place like a reaper makes me intensely depressed. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

I lost both grammas and grandfathers when I was a little kid. At least they didnt live to see what we have become regardless..
it's true what you say though it's very pathetic that some humans only care for others when they are having their last moments or they are gone or extreme cases like this. The morale is don't wait until the last moment if you genuine care about someone. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure." Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words. Retired since crucible.(Not a free tester anymore for a multi billion dollar company). Contagious virus that has a high kill ratio on the elderly.
-> tells people to go visit the elderly. . . I think for once the fact most family's neglect their elderly will work in their favor, there would be some grim humor in the fact people would now decide to go visit though. Just call them up and send funds if needed but stay clear of the places and let the people handle it untill it passes. Not to be all that optimistic about it, like charan already pointed some of those places smell like death and neglect have a second home there. The amount of horror story's ive heard from my sisters girlfriend(nurse) are stagering but so are the budgets of those places so i don't wanna trample on them all that harshly. They are places of suffering both for the people housed there and for the people with a real desire to help others. I lost my last two grandparents within the past 5 years.
My grandmother first at 86 and my grandfather at 88. They were quite frail near the end, but still had their wits about them. There is no way they would have survived a bad flu in their conditions, and the mere fear of that fact, would have been a cruel twist to having the mental acuity to realize what was happening around them. I take solace knowing they are at rest.

In 18days I wrap up my work here. I have 2.3k miles to drive home.
But, this shit has me preparing to drive 400 miles extra to visit my mom and dad. Hopefully it isnt as bad as it could be, but they are near 80. So prime targets. Both active though. Seeing them in 3months anyway. But I cant risk not seeing them this particular opportunity. |

I work in medical equipment supply.
I see the elderly nearly every day, would love to visit my folks as my Dad's b-day is coming up, but I have been exposed to the virus so I have to wait. ~ Adapt, Improvise and Overcome

Yes, lets all go visit our elderly family members who are more susceptible to it more than anyone else. Let us spread this shit around even quicker by running the risk of infecting an entire nursing home simply because we want to make sure our family members are OK and dont have it.
The logic in that is fucking astounding...... no wonder the situation is getting worse at a rate higher than it should be. I understand wanting to spend time with family in times like this but damn people.... common sense says stay the fuck away from certain places. How are you gonna feel if a nursing home does get infected and it spreads around killing folks. and then you find out you have it to? if you are as caring as you seem, you are gonna fall into a deep depression thinking maybe you were at fault and you were the one to cause it. The lack of common sense in society just blows me away. Just because GGG doesn't do anything about scammers, doesn't mean they support scammers. Complacency is not the same as endorsement. Thank you all for sharing and my condolences. Sending positive energy your way and thank you for sharing. And yes, it’s completely true, it’s best to keep our elderly safe by staying away.
