Confused About MTX Gem Limit and Reclaimation Mechanics
|
So I understand that only one skin can be used per gem, but can we not use the same skin on different gems if it doesn't affect a specific ability?
I bought the Remove/Hide effect from auras/herald/ice armor and it seems to let me use it on all 3, but then it resets when I enter a new map/zone? Or maybe it only resets 2/3 I'm not sure. Do I need to buy 3x of the same one to remove all 3 effects? Is that even possible to buy multiples of the same? On the Youtube video for 'Miracle Golem' skin, PoE shows the skin being used on 4-5 different golems, but how is that possible if we can only use 1 skin/gem? Do you actually have to buy 4-5 copies of the same skin from the shop??? I only have Lightning Golem so far so I cant really test anything. And I'm not sure if it'll double charge me if I attempt to buy the Miracle Golem skin again if I cant use it again. Also, what do they mean to "reclaim" the skin? I saw something about opening up the shop and returning it but then buying it again for free? Or is reclaiming just disabling it from where it was put on and goes back into your MTX collection? Sorry if these are noob Q's but I feel like they could have made the process much simpler. I'm also dreading the answer about using multiple golems and if I have to buy the same skin multiple times. So, this actually irks me about PoEs microtransactions.
Cosmetics purchased from the store directly, not in packs are per use items. So in order to have two celesital sword effects on your character, you must buy that MTX TWICE. This counts for skill gems too. Each gem can have 1 cosmetic active on it at any time. When that gem has that cosmetic active, it cannot be used on any other gem without removing it. Also, there are multiple types of golems and only skins for specific golems work. So a thunder golem skin can't be applied to a fire golem. A caveat to this is MTX purchased in packs. Since most people wouldn't buy two of the same pack, any cosmetic limited to supporter/core packs can be used as many times on as many times as needed since buying two packs just to get two sword effects is even sillier. Reclaiming a skin is essentailly just unequipping it. Nothing in the MTX store is consumable except those armor transformation tokens. So whenever you "reclaim" a MTX, it just goes into your MTX stash accessible by hitting "K" Last edited by Necrotekk#4404 on Mar 6, 2020, 3:46:09 PM

" WoW, OK. This is what I was fearing...so to have a bunch of different Miracle Golems (if I have a lightning and physical one summoned) I will need to go buy a 2nd Miracle Golem skin now? Or a 3rd if I want an army of them? \(-_-)/ And if I want to hide 3 effects at once I need to buy 2 more Invisible MTX? But the Elder Darkseer pack I bought, that armor I can use on multiple characters all at once without reclaiming it then? But if I bought a pair of necrotic wings (not in necrotic pack) only one char on my account can use those wings at a time? Last edited by 009Status#6939 on Mar 6, 2020, 3:52:27 PM

" That is, unfortunately, correct "Yup " So when it comes to changing characters, you must unequip everything from the other characters using them. Generally this isn't that hard, takes maybe 1m to switch the cosmetics out. I am talking using the same cosmetic multiple times on one character at the same time. So 3x miracle golems as you put it, or duel wielding weapon effects, etc |

" \(-_-)/ That is silly. Or a really good (immoral) way to make $$$. I understand buying something 1x to support the company as it's a F2P game but buying the same skin multiple times??? Dual-wielders having to buy weapon skins 2x to have matching weapons... \(-_-)/ And I guess this is why they don't put in weapon/skill effects into the core armor packs? |

" They put weapon effects in all of the supporter packs. They probably do not put skill effects in supporter packs because there are a lot of skills to account for. Also if you want to equip an equipped cosmetic on your logged in character, you can just equip it, and it'll automatically unequip from your other character.
