Is it against the ToS if I have Cheat Engine running in the background for some other game?

Sometimes I use CE to spd up some turn based game like Darkest Dungeon. I would like to have PoE running in the background too, just for upcoming tradings, but Idk if it's bannable if I do so.

yes.

It is assumed (99.99% correctly) that if a cheat engine is running while you are playing the game then you are using it to cheat in the game.

Honestly your best off asking on Reddit. You will not get a verified response from GGG here. If you email support you’ll probably get a generic response along the lines “we recommend not.” Reddit probably has the best chance of receiving an actual response.

With that said, of the game at all recognizes the cheat software you will most likely be banned without appeal. I strongly recommend avoiding this course of action. If you are going to use the software on another game, make sure it’s completely deactivated on your computer before launching PoE. It doesn’t have to even do anything. I cannot say what methods GGG uses to detect such software, and they will never provide that information.

That's stupid. If they are so worried about other processes running on the client system, then they should refuse to execute poe with a warning instead of banning people.

If you were to walk around with a pipe bomb strapped to your vest around a public area with no intent to blow it up, would you also feel surprised to find your self locked up for life as a result?

OP has to be kidding us, really? Is it okay if a cheat engine runs in background while you are playing pure online multiplayer game?

Imho they should perma ban anyone who gets even a suspicion of cheating (afaik that's actually what they are doing)

You are saying that it's stupid - when you registered your account you had to accept terms of service, now unless something has changed, i am quite sure there's a line that clearly states that they basically reserve the right to terminate the account for any reason they see fit without any disclosure (it's actually what WoW has (had?) in it's ToS for a decade or so. So if the rule is stupid, you must be stupid as well since you agreed to those terms... which i am quite sure you did not actually read at all.

The best defense against cheating is strong offense, nearly every online game these days has a line stating that they reserve every right to terminate a user account if they see fit without any warning or disclosure of what for - and you can't get to even create a basic account without accepting that rule among rows of many others.
No rest for the wicked.
