Mobile Gaming is utter TRASH...!
So I've spent the past couple weeks on MEMU PLAY emulator trying out the top games on the google play store...
100% REGRET...! The mobile gaming market is FILLED with grindy games with poor depth DESIGNED to entice you into spending HUNDREDS of dollars just to PROGRESS...! The few good games that AREN'T like this have MUCH better PC alternatives... Last bumped on Feb 17, 2020, 6:18:29 PM

Not Toram. It's got more depth and customization than literally every game but PoE. And isn't made to be payed through.
Pretty much every Asobimo MMO is incredible. Avabel had gone way downhill last time I played it a couple years ago, it used to be a great game though. Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

First off, try actually searching for the types of games you want - don't just download the ones that are featured (trending games, etc.), that's a marketing gimmick. Do a search, check out some of the entries, note their user score, and also read a few of the reviews. Basically the same thing you do to find good games on Steam ... at least I hope you find them that way.
The key to appreciating mobile gaming is to stop looking for the same kinds of games you do on PC or console. Instead learn to enjoy puzzles, card games, board games and all the other types of 'original' mobile games (i.e. the games that used to be the only kinds of games that could run on mobiles in earlier years). There's plenty of perfectly good, non-greedy games in that space, and even a few gems (especially the passion projects, which typically don't come from large game studios). There's just not much potential for bad design or exploitative pricing in those kinds of games, and if you happen to come across one, there's usually hundreds of similar alternatives that don't have those failings. As long as you don't look for your fix of ARPG or Battle Royale or whatever other mainstream PC and console gaming genre on mobile, and treat the big mobile gaming studios with skepticism, you should be fine. I game on my android and haven't had any bad experiences. My games? Chess, poker (not real currency), sidescrolling puzzles, etc. No ARPG's, nor do I want one. I have my PC for that. " There is a reason the announcement for PoE mobile started with Jonathan saying "So... mobile games are kinda bullshit, right?". I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

Most mobile games take browser games as their inspiration. You know, the ones you played at work back in the 90's, when you couldn't install actual starcraft on your actual workstation because company policy.
They were meant to be played while distracted, minimizable, forgettable, and highly exploitative. Many of them were just wallpaper for a high volume adserv. So if a lot of mobile games seem just reskins of Bejeweled and Minigolf it's because they are, or they're kindred spirits in that you play them in a constant state of distraction and multitasking fog. And more often than not, they're mindless and grindy and p2w. Mobile is the new platform, but for years it's been used as a garbage barge/floating casino. Publishers are starting to wedge in who aren't peddling trash, but of all the things that could be floating down the river, trash stinks the biggest stink. Why do people come to offtopic to have meltdowns?
And why do other people then try to reason with them? Spreading salt since 2006

pocket rogues is good
As to "better pc/console alternatives" I mean duh. Mobile games should be treated as something you do on a bus. Or toilet. Or at work. Or all three concurrently. Last edited by ladish#6213 on Feb 17, 2020, 5:30:43 PM

Some are, some are not...have you tried Eternium?
There are so many mobile games, yes 90 heck even 99% of them are trash. But some are at least honest about what they want, or why they have monetization in their game. |
