Changes for 3.10

Changes

1:
No changes for our build at all!
And you can do All content with the build as it is.

News:

- I'm having a hard time playing first week. Anyway I encourage you to do whatever changes you want. Just be careful: chaos damage conversion + lightning>cold damage conversion are a big part of this build. So using Call of the Brotherhood -> Atziris Flask -> Elemental to Chaos mods are the main source of damage for LL build, so, be careful that removing those elements are putting you in another territory.

- It will take a lot of time till I decide if its worth using new jewels.

What are you required to know before following this guide?

Path Of Building:
Path of Building (PoB) is a tool used to plan your Path of Exile character builds in an easy and efficient way with ability to share not only your build's tree but also items and skill gem setups which better help people to share accurate information. You will only be able to fully understand this guide by using it.

Path of Exile - Beginners Guide 2019 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiDqd0woIUg

"
Even tho the video is old, it still is a very good introduction to the game

Extra information (NOT REQUIRED) to dive in searching for videos and tutorials as you progress through the game:

Item Modifiers and Crafting
Modifiers generally change various aspects of the entity they are affecting. Most commonly modifiers apply stats, however, they can also apply buffs or grant skills and can often be found on items, monsters, strongboxes or areas.

A modifier should be seen as an instance of change applied to an entity. A basic modifier does nothing on its own, it is given the effect by the associated stats (and their values), buffs and skills.

Ailments
An ailment is a detrimental effect associated with one or more damage types.
Ignite, chill, freeze, shock, scorch, brittle, and sap are collectively referred to as elemental ailments.
Chill, freeze, shock, scorch, brittle, and sap are collectively referred to as non-damaging ailments.
Bleed, poison, and ignite are damaging ailments.

Crafting
Crafting refers to creating or improving items with certain orbs and other currency by adding and removing modifiers, sometimes with the help of masters.
Path of Exile's in-game currency is required for both crafting and trading items. Since most crafting techniques are costly and unpredictable, only the most successful crafting attempts are cost-efficient. As a result it is often preferable to buy a desired item from another player instead of crafting it yourself. As a rule of thumb, advanced crafting for equipment and weapons should also be avoided until the player has access to high-level items (with an item level of 80 or more) to make sure the highest tier of modifiers is available.

Pros and Cons

"

Pros

- Great league starter skill (Storm Brand)
- Very respectful single target with enough investment. (Boss Killer)
- Fast mapper (can do most t16 in 3-4 minutes)
- Many defensive layers, so you only die if you play really poorly.
- Can scale to infinite and be an instant phase end-game boss killer.

Cons

- Not your AFK 1 Button summoner, so you need to click! This is a very important warning to people who intend to play 10+ hours a day, cause the play style might give you muscle soreness.
- If you want to go 600+ depth delve you will need to make your own improvements since I didn't go deeper

The Guide
This guide is a very in-depth guide and a work in progress. I encourage you to make your own changes and try all the different play styles that I will suggest.
Please! Be patient as I will implement more and more content.
Please! Read everything before making any questions

General Inquisitor Ascendancy Mechanics

Inquisitor Ascendancy

Why Inquisitor?

Before playing a specific class you should ALWAYS try to understand how that class works.

Let's break down the notable passives from the Inquisitor Ascendancy:

1 - Sanctuary

"
You have Consecrated Ground around you while stationary
Consecrated Ground you create applies 10% increased Damage taken to Enemies
Regenerate 15 Mana per second while on Consecrated Ground

Sanctuary is your Consectred Ground generator. The words "while stationary" means that every time you use a skill with "cast time" you will create a consecrated ground under you, e.g.: Shield Charge, Storm Brand and Flame Dash.

2 - Pious Path

"
Consecrated Ground you create grants Immunity to Elemental Ailments
to you and Allies
Effects of Consecrated Ground you create Linger for 4 seconds
Regenerate 200 Energy Shield per second while on Consecrated Ground
20% increased Attack and Cast Speed while on Consecrated Ground

This is what makes Sanctuary and Consecrated Ground so strong for us. Cast Speed directly increases Storm Brand Damage and 200 Energy Shield per second is a nice defensive buff. Also, the increased duration of your consecrated ground guarantees the enemies will be under your consecrated ground to take extra damage. And after all, you are ALSO immune to elemental ailments If you played a lot of PoE you know how much annoying Ignite, Freeze and Shock can be, so this is just an amazing quality of life buff.

3 - Righteous Providence

"
100% increased Critical Strike Chance against Enemies that are affected
by no Elemental Ailments
+45% to Critical Strike Multiplier against Enemies that are affected
by Elemental Ailments
20% increased Effect of non-Damaging Ailments on Enemies

This is what makes Inquisitor such a good Critical Strike and Elemental character. You will increase your chance to Critical Strike which will also increase your chance to Shock and Freeze the enemies (if you don't understand why, please read more about Elemental Ailments on other sources), after shocked and froze the enemy will take more damage, a very nice and simple passive.

4 - Inevitable Judgement

"
Critical Strikes ignore Enemy Monster Elemental Resistances
Non-Critical Strikes Penetrate 10% of Enemy Elemental Resistances

This is the final blow and makes inquisitor a super simple character to play and so powerful since Awakener's PoE expansion. Don't waste your time with elemental curses (elemental weakness, conductivity or frostbite). You already are ignoring all elemental resistances if you crit. This also makes Assassin's Mark curse our best option.

Leveling Guide

Spoiler

POB: Act 1 - Act 10

"

Thanks for ShermanDiablo for making this guide: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2323815/page/1
This POB is just an adaptation for Templar.
Check his guide if you need a walkthrough to all acts.
Keep in mind this is only a Leveling Tree and you are supposed to change your tree as you work your way to the real build, so save as many orbs of regrets you can, cause you will need them later on.

Ascendancy

Leveling Gear - Rare

Deathless Kitava Act 5 - example of Rare random gear

Unless you are playing hardcore, dual wand or scepters is my recommendation.

You are looking for the following mods:

Adds # to # Lightning Damage to Spells -> # to Level of all Lightning Spell Skill Gems -> #% increased Cast Speed -> #% increased Spell Damage -> #% increased Lightning Damage

Other gear:

You are looking for the following mods:

# to maximum Life -> Balance your resistances -> Energy Shield

"
Hint: try to keep picking up good rares and crafting on them the missing mods. Keep in mind you need to constantly improve your gear as you progress in the game.

Deathless Kitava Act 10 and Merciless Lab First Try - example of Rare random gear

If you are struggling to find a better wand, use this essence on your best wand base and you should be good to finish all acts and merciless lab:

Other gear:

# to maximum Life -> Balance your resistances -> Energy Shield

With this gear, I was able to kill Kitava Act 10 Deathless and do Merciless lab first try.

"
Stats for reference:

2900 HP
60%+ all resistances
3800 Tooltip DPS (Storm Brand) in my hideout.

Gems

Main Damage Setup (4-Link):
Storm Brand -> Added Lightning Damage -> Controlled Destruction -> Concentrated Effect

"
These are the only necessary gems to finish acts and do Merciless lab. If for some reason you have more sockets, you can add Added Cold Damage and Inspiration

Utility Setup (3-Link):
Brand Recall -> Arcane Surge (Level 4) -> Flame Dash

"
Keep Arcane Surge low level. If you don't understand why I advise you to read the skill description.

Auras:
Wrath // Herald Of Thunder // Clarity (Level 1)

"
There are other good auras but we are just keeping things simple.

Others:
Summon Lightning Golem // Conductivity

"
Golem is nice, and you will need a curse (Conductivity) for bossing till you do Uber Lab. After, as explained in Inquisitor Mechanics, you don't need a curse anymore

Tips

Act 1:

Act 1 is our worst act. Different from a Witch, we start far from good nodes like Elemental Overload and we can only have Storm Brand after killing Merveil. Till that, we can use literally any spell. I like to use 2 or 3 link Frost Bolt for Bossing (FrostBolt -> Onslaught -> Added Lightning Damage) and FrostBomb (FrostBomb -> Onslaught) to clear white mob packs.

OR

Orb Of Storms (Orb Of Storms -> Onslaught)

After Killing Merveil don't forget to go back to the town to get your quest reward (Storm Brand spell)

Defensive Threshold to help beginners:

  • Act 5:

You should usually have:
- 1200+ Life
- 35%+ to all elemental resistances
- Done first lab

  • Act 7:

You should usually have:
- 1800+ Life
- 40%+ to all elemental resistances
- 4-link setup for Storm Brand

  • Act 10 before killing Kitava:

You should usually have:
- 2700+ Life.
- 65%+ to all elemental resistances.
- 4-link setup for Storm Brand
- Done all 3 first labs.

Elemental Overload:

It is a common practice to have Elemental Overload (notable passive from the tree) as your main source of damage as you level a new spell character. This is why the PoB Tree for leveling might be so different from the final tree. Because we don't get Critical Multiplier from our gear/tree, we only get raw damage to simplify things.

I suggest you to keep leveling until Level 72 before switching to Life Build.

League Starter - Life Build

Life Build

How solid is this build?

About build

- 1 million (2 branches) DPS without counting Shock and Flasks and with no damage investment.
- 30%+ Block Attack Chance.
- 44% Physical Damage Reduction, easily 80%+ with Granite Flask.
- Immortal Call with Endurance Charge generation.
- Fortify
- Immune to all ailments
- Chill and Freezes enemies
- 5k+ HP / 4.4k+ ES (Level 91)
- Easy to push to tier 16 maps (see video below)
- Can still be improved (not a full unique build)
- Hardcore viable (if you can get the uniques)

Here is a video showcasing video, Red mapping at level 72:

https://youtu.be/GdqmoubvaQ8 - Tier 14 map with 70+ IQQ at level 72:

POB

"
https://pastebin.com/pNcfMtUr

The POB has 3 different trees that you can select:
Level 72
Level 80
Level 91

Pantheon, Bandits and Ascendancy

Pantheon

Soul of Lunaris

1% additional Physical Damage Reduction for each
nearby Enemy, up to 8%
1% increased Movement Speed for each
nearby Enemy, up to 8%

Capture Ancient Architect in Pier Map
10% chance to avoid Projectiles

Capture Excellis Aurafix in Residence Map
5% chance to Dodge Attack and Spell Hits if you've
been Hit Recently

Capture The Hallowed Husk in Palace Map
Avoid Projectiles that have Chained

"
Great for Mapping, capture them all as you progress through maps

Soul of Shakari

5% reduced Chaos Damage taken
25% reduced Chaos Damage over Time taken while on Caustic Ground

Capture Terror of the Infinite Drifts in Desert Spring Map
Immune to Poison

"
Amazing pantheon that, together with Death's Door Boots, will make us completely immune to ailments.

Bandits
"
Kill them all

Ascendancy

Gems

Main Damage Setup (6-Link):
Storm Brand -> Added Lightning Damage -> Controlled Destruction -> Concentrated Effect -> Energy Leech -> Hypothermia

You can use Inspiration, instead of Added Lightning Damage, just like POB. It doesn't affect the damage at all. Use it if you have an extra red socket instead of a blue one.

"
I suggest to upgrade as soon as you can to Awakened Lightning Damage, Awakened Controlled Destruction and Storm Brand Level 21 / 23% Quality.

What about Awakened Elemental Focus?

It is a great gem but it removes our ability to shock or freeze with StormBrand, both ailments are easier to achieve in 3.9, so I don't see any reason to use it at all. Anyway, I agree that shock effect is controversial since is hard to tell how much increased damage bosses and monsters are taking. Feel free to test it, maybe it can help you bossing if you are struggling. Just make sure you replace Hypothermia with it.

Utility:

Brand Recall -> Arcane Surge (Level 6) -> Empower

"
Keep Arcane Surge low level. If you don't understand why I advise you to read the skill description.

Fortify -> Shield Charge

"
Our main movement speed ability.

Flame Dash

"
Useful to combine with Shield Charge and to jump long walls.

Vaal Righteous Fire

"
Use only the Vaal Spell. It's useful to burst down some bosses

Auras:

Herald Of Ice -> Herald Of Thunder -> Enlighten (Level 3+) -> Zealotry

"
You can use many different combinations, but Zealotry is just great with our Ascendancy and has some nice Watcher's Eye mods for later. Herald Of Ice heps with freezes and Herald Of Thunder gives nice damage. Enlighten Lv 3 is required, if you still dont have one you can drop Herald Of Thunder.

Precision (Level 1)

"
If you have Enlighten Level 4 you can use Precision Level 1 and/or Clarity Level 1, it's up to you

Cast When Damage Take Setup

Cast When Damage Taken (Level 10) -> Immortal Call (Level 12) -> Increased Duration Support (Max Level) -> Summon Lightning Golem (Level 12)

"
You should only level these spells if you have enough Strength for it.Please make sure you understand how "Cast When Damage Taken" works, so that you don't over level these abilities.

Wave of Conviction?

We ignore elemental resistances, so this is useless.

Orb Of Storms?

Nice raw damage skill for clearing, but kinda hard to fit in.

Gear

Weapon

This combo is super powerful and safe to push to Tier 16 maps.
Still, as you get some currency I suggest you to check the improvements section to see ways of getting more damage (which will obviously sacrifice some defense).

Body

Stats to look for:
1. Energy Shield
2. Life
3. Open Prefix to craft "Gain (9–10)% of Maximum Life as Extra Maximum Energy Shield

Resistances are just a bonus

"
Unique Chests worth mentioning:

1. Loreweave Elegant Ringmail (Probably the best unique chest for us, especially league starting since it is easy to sell after you are done with your life build. Look for a "Your Maximum Resistances are 78%" and more than 40%+ increased elemental damage).

2. Carcass Jackass (Nice damage, but the evasion doesn't synergize with our build)

3. Inpulsa's Broken Heart Nice mapping damage, but doesn't seem that strong at bosses, also shock immunity is useless for us. Still, I've seen people kill Sirus with it. Anyway, not recommended at all for our build.

Helmet

Stats to look for:

1. Energy Shield
2. Life
3. Resistances.

"
Life is nice but it isn't really necessary if you are going for Energy Shield Build later. If you get a pure Energy Shield Helmet it will work very well too.

Boots
"

Death's door are our core boots.

These boots are amazing, they will make you full ailment immune. So becomes very easy to map without dying.

If you can't afford them, I recommend any boots like these:

Stats to look for:

1. Energy Shield
3. Movement Speed
2. Resists
4. Open prefix to craft LIFE

Belt

Stats to look for:

1. Energy Shield / Life

3. 40%+ Resistances

"
I'm using a leather belt, but you can also use a Crystal Belt or a Stygian Vise. Here you want to have as many resistances as possible.

If you get a nice belt, remember to use:

So you can have a 50%+ resistances belt. This will make your life easier when trying to cap resistances. If you are capped (75% resists) you can also use life catalyst or defense catalyst (Energy Shield).

Gloves

Mods to look for:

- Energy Shield
- Resistances

-> Frenzy Charge generation for mapping if you don't have another way of getting it.

"
Here you can have many good things.

I'm using it for the Frenzy Charge generation while mapping (which increases our damage by a lot).
This is not the only way of generating Frenzy Charges, check the improvements for more.

Amulet

Stats to look for:

Best combination:

Dexterity + Strength

-> Maximum Life
-> Critical Strike Multiplier
-> Open prefix to craft: 20% increased Maximum Energy Shield
-> Elemental Resistances

Others:

1. to all Attributes
2. Spell Damage
3. Cast Speed

TIP: you should anoint "Heartseeker" as soon as possible, which is a cheap anointment and a nice damage boost. Of course, if you know what you are doing you can go for other anointments too.

"
There are also some nice mods from influenced amulets but its probably not worth the investment since we will go for Chayula when we make the transition to End-game build. In any case, check improvements to see some of the possible mod ideas.

Rings

"
Call Of The BrotherHood is a standard good ring for us. It synergizes very well with Hypothermia and is great for mapping.
The conversion from lightning to cold is especially powerful when we are converting elemental damage to chaos damage (Atziri flask and wands mods) since it counts as being converted for both elements.

Stats to look for:

1. Assassin's Mark Curse
2. Energy Shield
3. Life
4. Resistances

"
We can get any base here: Moonstone (Energy Shield), Coral / Vermillion (Life) and even Resistance ones if you are struggling to cap your resistances to 75%. It doesn't matter. It's super easy to craft one of those so I suggest you do some research and craft them by yourself.

Flasks

"
These 3 are your best offensive option on league starting. If you feel you have enough damage, you can replace Silver Flask for Quick Silver of Adrenaline. You can also craft Onslaught on Kill on your boots, so you don't need Silver Flask.

"
A granite flask of iron skin is very good for our build and helps a lot with Uber Lab, Shaper, Sirus, and other super Physical Damage Bosses.

Life Flask should be an instant one.

You don't need Bleeding immunity if you have a Death's Door Boots
In this case, Cast Speed is a nice mod:

Jewels

"
This jewel is required to generate Endurance Charges. Check POB to know the correct location in the tree.

Stats to look for:

Best Damage Mods:

+#% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Lightning Skills
+#% increased Critical Strike Multiplier for Spells
+#% increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier

+#% increased Spell Damage while holding a Shield

Some of the secondary Damage mods:

+#% increased Lightning Damage

+#% increased Damage
+#% increased Spell Damage
+#% increased Cast Speed
+#% increased Area Damage

Defense:

+#% Increased Maximum Life
+#% Increased Maximum Energy Shield
+#% Resistances

"
There are many useful jewels to use in our jewel mods. The most op jewels are the triple Multiplier ones. They usually only sell for a reasonable price at the beginning of the league, after that they go for like 20ex+. In any case, use jewels with triple good mods and get more life/energy shield and cap your resistances.

Build Mechanics

First of all, make sure you read the General Inquisitor Mechanics section.

Fighting

- You should start by using Shield Charge into mobs to get your Fortify Up and proc Consecrated Ground.
- Alternate between using Storm Brand and Brand Recalls

Bossing

- This build is very tank, so you shouldn't have much problem fighting most bosses. Drop your brand and focus on dodging spells.
You might only struggle against bosses with too much HP (e.g. Uber Elder/Sirus), that do Chaos Damage, and/or are Phased. That's why we make the Energy Shield transition at some point.
If you want a bossing guide check the The End-game balanced Build for boss mechanics, since I will concentrate all fight tips there.

Improvements

"
Even tho this is a solid build. I recommend you to start working as soon as possible in your Energy Shield End-game build. For that, please check the The End-game balanced Build.

Here, I will show some of the possible improvements that can make this build as good as Energy Shield one, with enough investment ($$$$). Some of these improvements can work for both builds, so you can start with them

Unnatural Instinct Viridian Jewel

"
If you have the currency you can path to the middle jewel node and use an Unnatural Instinct Viridian Jewel. A very common placement for spell builds with lightning damage."

Bottled Faith

"
Bottled faith is an amazing flask, nothing much to say. Still, only invest in one if you don't have much else to invest cause this flask is usually VERY EXPENSIVE.

Watcher's Eye

"
There are many good watcher's eye mods. But please be careful. Usually a single mod watcher's eye is not better than triple mod rare jewel and sometimes are too expensive to be worth investing. So, make sure you are getting a double good mod or one with the single mod: "+50% to Critical Strike Multiplier while effected by Precision"

You can check all possible mods here: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Watcher%27s_Eye

Timeless Jewels

"
Brutal Restraint Timeless Jewel is the one of the ways of generating Frenzy Charges (and the best one if you are playing the Energy Shield version). If you are lucky enough you will get other good mods with it, like Onslaught on Kill, Critical Strike Chance, and Cold Resistance. If you don't know how these Jewels work I suggest you to search for some Timeless jewels tutorials. Below you can see where I got the frenzy charge mod. So I could use other gloves.
Check Body armour to see the best way of getting frenzy charges with a Life Build.

"
If you are really interested in going on with a Life Build you can take a look at this Jewel instead. Any Glorious Vanity of Doryiani, will replace notable nodes in radius with the mod: "50% of Non-Chaos Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield and Gain 20% Maximum Life As Extra Maximum Energy Shield", this is a nice Energy Shield Boost. This also means you will need to make some changes to the tree. Check below the location of Jewel and Notable passive I suggest:

Body Armour

Body Armour

Mods to look for:

#% chance to gain a Frenzy Charge on Hit (Reedemer)
Killed Enemies Explode, dealing #% of their Life as Physical Damage (Crusader)
Spells have #% to Critical Strike Chance (Shaper/Hunter)

- Open Prefix to craft "Gain (9–10)% of Maximum Life as Extra Maximum Energy Shield
- LIFE
- Energy Shield / Resists.

"
A Reedemer chest with "#% chance to gain a Frenzy Charge on Hit" is the best solution for Frenzy Charge generation if you wanna go further with your LIFE BUILD. explode mod is also AMAZING, but it is really expensive, check Crafting to see how to make one of these.

Rings

Opal Ring double influenced (Shaper + Elder)
With the following mods:
- Curse Enemies with Level # Assassin's Mark on Hit
- #% increased Critical Strike Multiplier

+

Mark Of The Shaper Opal Ring

"
This combination is stronger than what we have in terms of DPS if you get a max Spell Damage Opal Mark Of The Shaper (Using Spell Catalysts), but you will need to drop Call Of The Brotherhood. I tested it, it does more damage but I didn't like it at all, so it's up to you. Is a nice setup if you are an advanced player and want to use Awakened Elemental Focus instead of Hypothermia for example.

Gloves

Unique for mapping:

- Spells have critical strike chance corruption

Influenced Rare gloves

Mods to look for:

- #% chance to Unnerve Enemies for # seconds on Hit
- Culling Strike

"
Both mods are nice and thanks to Awakener's Orb, you can easily have both (at cost of $$$$$). But I don't recommend using one of these unless it has a nice stats combination (tier 1 Life/tier 1 EnergyShield and resists) if you just wanna more damage for mapping you should use the unique one which is way cheaper.

Helmet

BiS (Best In Slot) Helmet, is probably just a helmet with huge ES + Life + Resists, but if you wanna more damage you can use:

Unique Crown of the Inward Eye Prophet

"
Crown of the Inward Eye Prophet is a very nice item for us. If you don't need resistances on your helmet, you can use it.

Amulet

Mods to look for:

5% of Non-Chaos Damage as extra Chaos Damage (Elder)
+1 to Level of all Intelligence Skill Gems (Hunter)
#% increased Damage per # Intelligence (Shaper)

"
Again we have some nice possible mods here, but nothing really crazy. You should only use these mods in combination with mods that are recommended in the gear section.

Amulet anointments

Constitution (Gold Oil + Gold oil + Silver Oil) is a very strong anointment (A lot of life) but also more expensive compared to Heartseeker.

The End-game balanced Build

Energy Shield Build

Why should I go for Energy Shield?

About build

Energy shield gear is not a budget gear but it will always pay off. The reasons are many, but here are some:
- Leech Spell Damage as Energy Shield
- Low Life mechanics (Ability to reserve your life)
- Our PoE Skill Tree "damage side" (top side) is also closer to Energy Shield related points, this means we end up with: More Spell Damage, More Energy Shield, More Energy Shield Regen (Easily 10%+).

TL;DR: You will do more damage than Life Build but you need to invest.

General Stats:

- You can easily reach 7 Million Shaper DPS (2 branches) in fights you can generate charges like Uber Elder.
- 20%+ Block Attack Chance.
- 25% Physical Damage Reduction, easily 55%+ with Granite Flask.
- Immortal Call with Endurance Charge generation.
- Flesh and Stone
- Fortify
- Immune to all ailments
- Chills and Freezes enemies
- Between 7-9k Energy Shield depending on the gear you choose
- All content viable.
- Can still be improved (not a full unique build)

For videos of the build, please check the beginning of the guide.

POB

"
https://pastebin.com/YP3kF7fX

This POB is just a general guideline. You should know what stats you are looking for and how good your jewels are, be free to make adaptations and path to good nodes as you like. I have changed my tree many times on my way thru 94. Anyway, I recommend you to have at least 7k Energy Shield and 75% to all elemental resistances.

Pantheon, Bandits and Ascendancy

Pantheon

Ascendancy

Gems

Main Damage Setup (6-Link):
Storm Brand -> Added Lightning Damage -> Controlled Destruction -> Concentrated Effect -> Energy Leech -> Hypothermia

"
I suggest to upgrade as soon as you can to Awakened Lightning Damage and Awakened Controlled Destruction.

What about Awakened Elemental Focus?

It is a great gem but it removes our ability to shock or freeze, both ailments are easier to achieve in 3.9, so I don't see any reason to use it at all. If you really want to test it, you can replace Hypothermia with it and see by yourself.

Utility:

Brand Recall -> Arcane Surge (Level 6) -> Empower

"
Keep Arcane Surge low level. If you don't understand why I advise you to read the skill description.

Fortify -> Shield Charge

"
Our main movement speed source.

Flame Dash

"
Useful to combine with Shield Charge

Vaal Righteous Fire

"
Use only the Vaal Spell. It's useful to burst down some bosses

Auras:
Zealotry -> Blood Magic

"
Our Low Life setup.

Flesh and Stone

"
Sand stance is a great defensive source

Herald Of Ice -> Innervate -> Enlighten (Level 2+) -> Discipline

"
Nothing much to say here, Innervate works with Herald Of Ice and Discipline is just a great defensive aura.

Cast When Damage Take Setup

Cast When Damage Taken (Level 10) -> Immortal Call (Level 12) -> Increased Duration Support (Max Level) -> Summon Lightning Golem (Level 12)

"
You should only level this spells if you have enough Strength for it.Please make sure you understand how "Cast When Damage Taken" works, so that you don't over level these abilities.

Precision (Level 1) ->

"
You can replace a gem for Precision Level 1 if you want. e.g. Increased Duration

Gear

Core

"
For this Low Life (LL) and Energy Shield build I chose Shav + Chayula combo. This is one of the simplest ways of dealing with Low Life and Energy Shield and works very well with Inquisitor. Also with the recent arrival of Sirus (end-game boss), Chaos Resistance is just amazing to have.

Please, make sure you already have a nice Wand before going LL otherwise you will do less damage than Life Build!

Weapon and Shield

"
I killed Sirus more than 10 times and did all the content with this wand. It is a nice wand and far from being the best of its kind.

Try to craft something similar as soon as you can. It can be any level 85 Shaper Wand, I actually recommend you to do something in a Opal Wand like this:

You are looking for both mods:

- Elemental as Chaos Damage.
- Critical Chance for Spells.

But instead of "Double Damage While Focussed" you craft "Added Lightning Damage to Spells"

Check the crafting section, I will add more information there as soon as I can.

"
For shield, you want Critical Chance for Spells and as much energy shield and resistances you can get.

Helmet

Stats to look for:

1. Energy Shield
2. Resistances.

"
Not much to say here, just get a helmet with nice resistances and also a good amount of Energy Shield.

Boots
"

Death's door are our core boots.

These boots are amazing, they will make you full ailment immune. So becomes very easy to map without dying.

If you can't afford them, I recommend any boots like these:

Stats to look for:

1. Energy Shield
2. Resists
3. Movement Speed

Belt

Stats to look for:

1. Energy Shield
3. 40%+ Resistances

"
You don't really need an expensive belt like mine since you can get resistances from other pieces. A belt with Strength can be useful to level up your Shield Charge, Fortify, Immortal Call and Blood Magic to higher levels.

TIP: if you get a nice belt don't forget to use catalysts.

Gloves

Mods to look for:

- Energy Shield
- Resistances

"
-> Frenzy Charge generation (Elder Gloves) for mapping if you don't have another way of getting it (check jewels for the most optimal way of getting it).

Rings

4. Resistances

"
We can get any base here: Moonstone (Energy Shield) or Two-stoned Rings (Resistance) if you are struggling to cap your resistances to 75%.

Another option:

"
A granite flask of iron skin is very good for our build and helps a lot with Uber Lab, Shaper, Sirus, and other super Physical Damage Bosses.
If you are not using Death's Door Boots, please use a Bleeding Immunity Flask

"
30% + damage according to POB. This flask is CRAZY good for us.
You don't need it to do all the content, but you definitely want it at some point.

Jewels

"
This jewel is required to generate Endurance Charges. Check POB to know the correct location in the tree.

"
Brutal Restraint Timeless Jewel is probably the best way to generate frenzy charges, and if you are lucky enough you will get other good mods with it, like Onslaught on Kill, Critical Strike Chance, and Cold Resistance. If you don't know how these Jewels work I suggest you to search for some Timeless Jewels tutorials. Below you can see where I put mine to get frenzy charge mod (Most cases you will need to spam divine orbs to get Frenzy Charge mod, so it can be expensive).

Stats to look for:

Best Damage Mods:

+#% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Lightning Skills
+#% increased Critical Strike Multiplier for Spells
+#% increased Spell Damage while holding a Shield

Some of the secondary Damage mods:

+#% increased Lightning Damage
+#% increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
+#% increased Damage
+#% increased Spell Damage
+#% increased Cast Speed
+#% increased Area Damage

Defense:

+#% Increased Maximum Life
+#% Increased Maximum Energy Shield
+#% Resistances

"
There are many useful jewels to use in our jewel mods. The most op jewels are the triple Multiplier ones. They usually only sell for a reasonable price at the beginning of the league. In any case, use jewels to get triple good mods and get more life/energy shield and cap your resistances

Crafting Tips
"

I love crafting.

I made this post in Metamorph League where a made more than 200ex and I can easily say more than half those exalts were made from crafting itens and selling them.

REMEMBER: Don't craft for yourself, craft good items and try selling items that can be used by others.

Weapon

Step 1

Step 1: Get a Shaper Opal Wand Base or a Shaper Profane Wand Base. ITEM LEVEL 85+

"

Both bases are fine, Opal wands are what I recommend if you want to be able to easily sell the item later for others, but the base is more expensive. Profane wands are overall better, even tho POB might say differently when it comes to damage (42% Spell damage x 14% Cast Speed). Cast speed is better cause it means your brand is activating with more frequency and applying ailments and stats more often, like said its better but not by much.

Step 2

Step 2: Use Alterations

Mods you are looking for together:

(100–109)% increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells (Tier 1)
Gain (7–8)% of Elemental Damage as Extra Chaos Damage (Tier 1)

If it's your first wand in the League you might be fine with:

(80–99)% increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells (Tier 2)

"

The number of
might depend on your luck. It was around 2000-3000 to me to make my first one in the league.
If you get one of the mods alone remember to use

Optional Step 2.5

Step 2.5 OPTIONAL: Imprint (copy) your magic weapon using a Craicic Chimeral beast

"
These beasts are usually less expensive than alterations so its definitely worth doing it if you want 3 GOOD MODS in your wand. Only do this if you have the currency to keep buying beasts.

Step 3

Step 3: Use a REGAL ORB and pray for Chris Wilson for a good MOD.

Best mods are:

SUFFIX:
#% increased Cast Speed
#% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier
PREFIX:
+1 to Level of all Lightning Spell Skill Gems
Adds (3–10) to (126–133) Lightning Damage to Spells

"
Its fine to go to next step without any good third mod. You can do all the content without 6 good mods.

Step 4

Step 4: Craft the following mods:

1. Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers

IF YOU GOT A SUFFIX WITH REGAL:

2. (46–50)% increased Spell Damage
Gain 4% of Non-Chaos Damage as extra Chaos Damage

3. Adds (3–9) to (106–112) Lightning Damage to Spells

IF YOU GOT A PREFIX WITH REGAL:

2. (46–50)% increased Spell Damage
Gain 4% of Non-Chaos Damage as extra Chaos Damage

3. +(25–28)% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier

"

The Elemental as Extra Chaos Damage mods are amazing for us, yes. If you want to know more about the mechanics between Chaos damage multiple-dipping you can read here: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion

Gloves

I suggest you to find a high ES glove, iLVL 85+, without influence, with ONLY 1 prefix and ONLY 1 suffix open.

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Delirium/249k03DIk

Then:
1 - Craft "Cannot roll Attack Modifiers"
2 - Slam a Hunter Exalt

Now you have % chance to Unnerve Enemies for 4 seconds on Hit

3 - Remove crafted mods

4 - Craft whatever suffix you want

This is probably the strongest thing you cand do!

The End-game Luxury Bosskiller

Energy Shield BossKiller

Why should I go for this build?
About Build

Storm Brand is a great and balanced skill and does many things very well. If like me you got to a point where you already made a better mapper/delver char, like a bower, you will get yourself thinking about what you could do with your Inquisitor.

So this build doesn't intend to make the best boss killer in the game. It is just a for fun cannon glass build.

Stats:

- 6+ Million DPS per branch (12 Million DPS) with no Vaal/no charges, only flasks and spell chain.
- 51% Chaos Damage
- 7k Energy Shield (you can get more if you have the budget)
- Damage enough to kill most bosses in seconds (check Drox Gif at the beginning of the guide)

Disclaimer:

"

The main problem of inquisitor is that he is tied with his "Elemental Damage" ascendancy, so you can't really go for eternity shroud, I mean, you can but it isn't worth it. You also cannot generate charges on fights without mobs (Sirus fight). So if you have unlimited budget and looking for the best bosser you can get, just level up a Trickster and do this build there, since it solves all these problems and reaches around 24million DPS with an eternity shroud gear.

But if you want to keep your Inquisitor items and still kill bosses in seconds, this build is for you.

POB

Making a guide like this takes time, so I apologize for not giving much more information right now.

Build Mechanics

Different from the balanced build, here we don't need many mechanics to fight bosses, since we just try to kill them really fast and not worry about dodging many things. Still, for phased bosses (Sirus) you will need to be dodgy.

General Bossing:

Start by casting Wither Totems -> Cast your Storm Brand and Brand Recalls (To trigger Arcane Surge), use your Flasks, Use Focus and Run around to dodge stuff. Bosses should die in the first rotation of this combo.

I just added a new section at the beginning of the guide. Deathless Uber Elder and Tier 16 maps will be added soon.
Kudos, man. very nice and detail-oriented guide. Really like to try Inquisitor next, even a league-starter in next league. a couple of questions for leveling as a league-starting build.

1. do you think if it's better to pick Alira instead of Kill all?

2. would you suggest level up with OoS + Wave of Conviction while doing ACT1 to ACT10?

thank you very much.

1. Alira is great, I just don't advise to keep her if you can reach 75% resistances without her. Usually, two points means a lot, especially in the end-game.
I could finish just fine without her. The problem usually is Physical Damage/Projectiles (cause we don't have armor) and if you don't have enough damage. Keep in mind it is super important to keep upgrading your wands to make sure you are one-shotting most mobs. Also, remember to craft resistances when necessary, many people don't like to use crafting bench while leveling but it's super good.

2. I love storm brand, it's also a choice for speedrunners. I don't have experience with OoS + Wave of Conviction, the only thing I know is that it was nerfed in early levels in 3.9 (probably cause its too good). So, if you have experience leveling with these spells you can definitely use them.

Good luck!
I'm only in the mid 40's but loving the path of the leveling PoB's, its keeping everything very smooth!

Nice! Thx for the feedback!
New to the game, i am looking for a starting build for the next season.
Just one quick question : I got medical problem and i can't play a build with spam click on the mouse/keyboard (i mean not every 0,05 seconds).

Is your build ok for that problem? :/

Thank you
