Is it legal for someone to sell in-game currency for cash?
I was googling around about the Mirror of Kalandra and came upon a site that sold packs of currency for players.
I was wondering how much each currency is worth out of curiosity and came upon a site called "[Removed by Support]" in which some players sell actual ingame currency for real money. Just wondering if that's legal or breaks the policy. Seems like it wouldn't be allowed. Last edited by Scott_GGG#0000 on Jan 28, 2020, 2:29:01 AM Last bumped on Jan 30, 2020, 5:37:57 PM

No wonder there were so few items. Otherwise people would lose it over that stuff.

Might be few items, but actual currency is a real problem. There’s evidence of it all over the market if you know what to look for, and often you can spot players who did RMT based on gear, skill, progression, etc. You have to know what to look for, but feel free to report it to support if you ever suspect someone of RMT. Obviously we can’t know for certain how they obtained whatever valuables, and I don’t know what methods GGG has to look into it.
However, the only way to get rid of it is to remove trade completely. RMT is a problem to varying degrees in ever game with a trading system. Even games with RMT built in get undercut by bot farmers. |

Yep, buying or selling in-game items or Path of Exile accounts for external currency breaches our Terms of Use, and as such is a bannable offence.
We take real money trading very seriously, as it damages the in-game economy and constitutes "pay2win" (we're against that). If you'd like some more information regarding this, feel free to contact us at support@grindinggear.com! :) |
