Playing from China
So, I got a question for you guys.
What's the solution for those of us who live in China but can't read chinese ? Cause from what I've read here, anyone playing from China on international servers is exposed to risks of ban, and I would hate this, since I'm coming back to my country every once in a while and I still want to play on this account. For the little smartass who want to say use a vpn, it still lead to a huge ping, since you're connected to a server in another country, even if I connect to another country close such as taiwan, korea, or Singapore =). China has its own version of PoE. Given Tencent owns 80% of the game, I highly doubt there is any way to play on everyone else’s server without risking a ban. Enjoy your P2W PoE.

Yeah, thanks, I guess I wasn't clear enough in my previous post, I meant to ask if there is any way to have the chinese client in english.

That you should email support@grindinggear.com about. I doubt anyone here will know, and I personally wouldn’t risk my account off any workaround someone else advised.

Afaik, Tencent has their own paid gaming VPN, called 腾讯网游加速器 (or "Tencent Online Game Accelerator" translated). I tried it recently for PoE China and it worked fine (i'm playing from Europe). It has 3 different presets for PC version, maybe one of them would work with Global version.
Edit: " If you still playing version for China - try improvising, use translation on profile/character page (google-translate, chrome, etc...), try to recognize/note basic mods, like life, resistances, switch between English/Chinese poedb, etc... I am also in the same situation, as I am currently in China and would like to play on the Chinese Client.
Is there any way for me to change the game client to English? |

" nope, and the chinese realm is not connected to the normal realm + is not the same as the normal realm (they have AH + other changes), so you will have to start from zero. |

" I know this is a bit old and just wanted to add a lil something in light of current events, at least in China. For those who don't know, China has banned ALL multiplayer contact OUTSIDE on China. Meaning that "Foreigners"(Their wording) and Chinese players are banned from playing with each other. Nobody can connect to Chinese servers and nobody in China can connect outside. On the upside to this, cheating/hacking has dropped in many FPS games and item sellers have also been down a bit too. As much as I try my best to not support games that are connected to the CCP, they being a communist country, ALL companies in China are NOT so private and ARE connected to the CCP, even Tencent. I REFUSE to support Blizzard out of their, well we all know that story... I feel for the Chinese players but I think this may be the start of something bigger and I wonder what the state of foreign investments will be. Something to keep an eye on. |

" Wait a minute, Path of Exile has an AH on Chinese servers, really!? I mean tencent only has a small stake in the game and I REFUSE to believe this was implemented reluctantly from GGG nor can this be an "Out of our hands" situation. What, does integrity and GGG's strong anti-stance of P2W mechanics burn away by the Great(Fire)Wall of China? Because lets face it, even if the AH is not a Real Money AH, just having one increases the likely hood of black market currency selling. I'm really interested on the percentages of profits earned compared to the non-CCP ran servers. What other services are on these servers that's not on the "normal" servers. Is any of it RMT based at all? |
