One shot mechanics

anyone else getting frustrated with the boring and oh so infuriating one shot mech this and many other games have?, i get it I can one shot so why cant they? well for one when i die to Baran and try to reenter before i can even react he shoots me right as im coming thru the gate and bam ded...D..E...D..DED! I love this game but im getting sick of the lazy way game devs make games "difficult" its not difficult its annoying why even have armor or anything for that matter why not just run around naked and have everything one shot you? THATS difficult..right? sorry im just ranting bc im salty and annoyed. Ill get back to the game now. haha ;p

Dont blame the game or the devs they are doing a great job..If you get oneshot then thats because of your build and it should give you an incentive to fix it. Dont just run any youtuber or streamer build cause these are often very sauishy cause those guys know how to avoid damage and thus rather build glass cannons.
Now if you die a lot then thats cause you are missing some things. Stacking health or energy shield and capping your resistance is important but not enough. You also should focus on a secondary defense such as stacking armor, evasion, dodge or block chance. These are capped at 75% so try to get close to that and only focus on one.
Also if you can run a shield with your build there is a new mod you can craft on gear that gives 5% health or energy shield when you block. At 30% block chance you will survive a lot (even when you are frozen or cant move). At 45 spell and attack block chance you will be almost invicible and can face tank anything but Sirus. Make sure you have at least 6k health or 8k Es for this to work the best way ig you wanna try it. Block chance you can up with passives, spell block helm and even more attack block with gloves.
Otherwise stack evasion maybe? You can get that to 30k plus easy with passives, the right gear and so on allowing you to just stand anywhere not getting hit.
Last look into gear that gives you immunities to ailments and stuff these help a lot. Especially true for immune to chill and freeze. Immune to poison you can get from pantheon.

long story short, do some research, try out some stuff and then youll think how did i die so often. With the right setup all content up to tier 16 maps should be a cake walk once you build is functional.
Oh also craft faster start of Energy shield on your ring if you’re a ES build. Its OP

From a hc players point of view i cant really see how 45 block will make you almost invincible or facetank anything.
Even with 78 block/spellblock and 8k hp you can get oneshot by a lot of things in endgame.

Having immunities, damage mitigation and avoidance as you mentioned is an absolute necessity to even start the hardest content imo.

You also have to consider that the more defensive you build your charakter the less the amount of damage you can deal. The longer the fight, the higher the chance to get killed.

I agree with you that a lot of things are avoidable but it seems to me that sometimes you cant do anything about getting oneshot.

Not to mention some metamorphs this league that probably even insta kill every hc build in the game.

Everyone has a right to get a bit frustrated from time to time. :)

Without seeing your build or at least enough info to get an idea of what it's based on, there's no advice that will yield a workable solution for you. (IF there is one.)

I'm running a neato-cool Cyclone HoA Witch this League! It's a build that's meant to be all-content-capable, yet fun. Those two combinations are not easy to get in PoE builds. ;)

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2643210/page/1

It's a fun build to play. I've been one-shot a few time. So, what "one-shots" me? Lag, usually... How in the world do I get one-shot moving at x5 speed due to XBox frame skipping when it's trying to handle all the garbage on the screen? I guess all those hits still get calc'd server-side and <boom> "one-shot." There's also the fact that this League has tons of ground-spawn (Don't stand in the fire) effects and Metamorphs are loaded up with lost of "Nova" and some pretty nasty one-shot effects, too. Yay?

Max-Block Gladiators are nice to put up as an example of how not to get one-shot as a Max-Block Gladiator... /sigh

An interesting treatise on "Maximum Resistance" and one-shot mechanics - https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/7ygns5/the_importance_of_maximum_resistance/

My character is a Witch and it's easy to reach >100 Max Res.

Surviving one-shot mechanics is about being able to eat, with Hit Points, what you can't Mitigate when you're hit, provided you can't totally avoid that incoming damage by either knowing the fight or Evasion mechanics.

On Metamorphs - Those affixes matter a ton. When you're stacking every organ on the left, regardless of what attack it gives them, you're practically asking for the toughest regular RNG build the game can send at you at that level... Pay VERY close attention to some of the nastier Phys Damage affixes. IMO, those can be particularly nasty.

For me, the whole thing is surviving long enough to "spin-to-win" until my poison stacks up enough for the Agony Crawler to start wasting everything. :)

Your operating mechanics could be completely different.

Max-Blcok Gladiator build?

As with any build, there's a trade-off with max DPS output vs max DPS-incoming survival chance. There is no "One Build to Rule Them All" that gets the best of all possible attack/defense combinations. Generally HC builds are very tough builds with just enough DPS to kill what they're intended to be able to kill without they, themselves, dying. Every bit of emphasis in DPS potential after that point is switched over to mitigation.

You become almost invincible with 45 block if you pair it with a shield that gives you 5% Shield or health on block respectively. You need high pools for hp or shield tho to scale this. For example I currently have 9.5k shield so that gives me close to 500 Es each time I block. with all my other damage reduction mobs dont hit that hard somI can face tank almost anything. The 5% bock mod you can craft on elder and crusader shields (just spam dense fossils on it for shield or pristine for hp until you hit high stats plus that mod. Quite easy and cheap to do) . This is a great way to get super tanking while still maintaining millions of dps.

Look at mbXtreme’s latest trickster build for example. I transfered that Idea to my occultist. I dont use a leathal pride as he does cause its unvailable in trade atm so I stack block higher with block chance on helm and such.

Yeah i got frustrated i dont ACTUALLY blame the devs, just i DO feel its an issue with many games. Im a bane pop occultist so i dont have many issues with clearing most anything BUT BUUUT its my movement speed that sucks tbh...i find that the more movement speed the better. Today im stuck with mapping as i cant seem to get the maps i need to drop so ive been delving. im still "new" to the game as i just started taking the game seriously like two months ago. any one who wants to join me in mapping or whatever feel free to add my PSN :) btw if you click on my profile its all open to the public.

Couldn't get to the character details from your profile. :/

Anyway, something like this?

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2489249

It's got Flamedash, which is one my favorite movement skills. You should also, likely, be an ES variant for end-game. The build above is health focused, but only due to SSF-friendly gear selection. For survivability, if you're not ES focused... get ES focused gear and Ascendencies/passives maybe?

For base movement, some 30% Boots should do. You can get up to 25% or so with just base Crafting Affixes. +Movement % on kill/hit can be nice and don't forget to use your Flasks - Most builds in PoE don't give a rat's fart about the difficulty console players have using flasks without upgraded, expensive, controllers. If you can afford it, controllers like the XBox's "Elite" and PS4's two comparable products do make a difference since they give you mappable "paddles" you can use. That makes a huge difference in general movement speed capability/clear speed when you can pop Flasks whenever you want. :)
my build pretty much mirrors Mbxtremes got the carcass jack six link same boots and all pretty much everything is the same my movement speed is at 21% and yeah i use flame dash its my fav too. my biggest issue is just my ES is at 1000 health is at 3700 or 3800 evasion is pretty good imo im pretty well balanced i think i just gotta get better and learn the bosses more.
