A question about catalysts

Hey dudes,

I stuck a load of catalysts (the ele dam ones whatever they're called) on my ring with +17% increased lightning damage. Ring displays quality at the top, advanced mod description just say (x% increased) after the mod.

My question is this. What did it actually do? The ring still says 17% increased lightning damage as it originally did. My DPS didn't change even 1 point (galvanic arrow 100% converted phys).

I had the same issue with prismatic catalysts and ele defence. Says 3% increased, did not change the amount of ele resist that I have?

I was under the impression that each catalyst gave 0.5% increase. So is this an increase to the increase or is it jut meant to raise the initial increase by x%?

Or am I just a total noob and I am completely misunderstanding how they work?

OK so the lightning dam seems to have actually worked. 6*catalysts gave me 1%. Not quite sure how that adds up or is even really worth it? 20 catalysts on a crafted ring for like 3.(3?)% increase? That's pathetic.

Ele resists still didn't change though? Did I gain like .01% of an ele resist?

Either way the entire catalyst system seems entirely underwhelming at the moment.
its literally 20% (if you get it to 20%), and the catalysts specifically say what they raise. AKA it will not raise both resistances and damage at the same time, those are different catalysts

It clearly says 0-20% (Depending on how many you use)

6% of 17 is 1.02...
Catalyst (definition): a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change.

So with a PoE catalyst, how quickly does it make you react in anger when you realize that the quality improvements are paltry?
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

It depends on the activation energy of your anger.
