Guardian: Are Totems considered allies?
Hello there,
Currently rolling as a Templar Guardian and was thinking about making a defensive totem user because I do enjoy the style of game play totems offers. Through the Wiki, Forums and other sources there seems to be some conflicting information as to whether totems are actually considered allies. According to the Wiki they are allies, but I was hoping to find a concrete answer. I tried, but couldn't find another thread unless I was looking in all the wrong places. The Guardian ascendancy nodes Radiant Crusade and Unwavering Crusade seem to not be affected by totems with four totems and one minion in the immediate vicinity. If this is working as intended then I apologize for the thread, but it's a concept I thought sounded very fun. Thanks for reading! Last bumped on Dec 26, 2019, 4:13:03 PM

Interested as well as I'm trying the same build. Was dissapointed when I had 4 totems and one golem that I didn't receive the onslaught buff. Since the wiki states that totems are allies but its possible ots referring to the ancestral warchief totem. Im not sure if thats different than a spell totem in terms of an ally not at home so can't test

Seems pretty cut and dry to me:

I'd post in bugs. Totems ARE allies and you should be gaining the benefit of the Ascendancy nodes.
The only thing I can think of is placement, "Nearby" could be fairly strict. Also, it says hit for unnerve and intimidate. Are you using a spell totem setup, because alot of spells don't hit. I'm playing Heirophant for the first time this league, Pulse Totem, and the learning curve has been high. Especially with on kill effects. PS the new ballista skills are absolute trash right now, targetting, placement and arc all needs to be reworked. Not playable in their current state. |

I see..
Was running FP totems as well, but I've also used the same build as a minion setup and the nearby portion is quite generous. I can be standing directly on top of my totems and not receive the benefit. The way I've gotten around the Radiant Crusade (Resistances, 10% more damage w/ one nearby ally, onslaught w/ 5 nearby allies) for now is running summon skeletons with the Dead Reckoning unique jewel to turn them into Mage Skellies so they don't move around as much. It's worked out alright so far, even though they tend to get obliterated in a single hit haha. However, Unwavering Crusade (Inc. Damage, Atk. Speed, AoE to nearby allies) does not effect totems at all as it seems to only interact with your allies directly. Other than that it's been pretty fun. Not as much damage as heiro, but I love the defensive layers of guardian. Even weirder is that totems are affected by Radiant Faith (Grants Armor/ES to nearby allies based on reserved Life/Mana respectively) |
