PoE 2 ascendancy classes confusion

A lot of new players ask this question:
How many ascendancy classes does PoE 2 have?
Since PoE 4.0 = PoE 2 but PoE 2 also is a campaign of PoE 4.0, how many ascendancy classes does PoE 2 then have?

I feel like they should just have named the 2 campaigns instead, to have less confusion. What do you guys think?

--- EDIT ---

Ok its not just about the amount of ascendancy classes is also about the game.
During ExileCon both Chris and Jonathan was referring to PoE 4.0 as PoE 2

its just to have a better reference point when talking about the game that you can talk about either the campaign PoE 2 or the game PoE 2

All the old ascendancy classes will still be present in PoE2, plus the 19 new ones, for a total of 38. However, to use PoE1 ascendancies on a PoE2 character you will first have to unlock the ascendancy on a PoE1 character, and vice versa. Existing players from before PoE2 launches will have all the PoE1 ascendancies automatically unlocked in PoE2, but still have to unlock the PoE2 ascendancies if they want to use them on a PoE1 character.
Have you done something awesome with Sire of Shards? PM me and tell me all about it!

Pretty good answer, however when people ask this question the answer is often 19 or 38 without asking if the person asked about the campaign PoE2 or the game PoE2 that's why i think they should name the campaign something else.

or just stop making it confusing on your self ? PoE2 will contain everything in the game now + what ever PoE 2 brings.

Pretty simple really...

I already know the answer so there is no reason to explain it to me.

This whole conversation started on twitch where people where saying conflicting things, until it later was cleared up that people where referring to different things. I dont think this is very clear for a new player.

what about path of exile is ever clear, especially to a new player.

poe 2.0 vs 4.0 vs whatever the fuck is no different
On that, I don't think they've ever said 2.0... in relation to PoE2. It's PoE2 or 4.0... not 2.0.
Looks really promesing, one thing tho..

In the PoE 2 talks they showed some of the new trees and they seamed to have less options. If i recall there was like 5 major ascendacy nodes and you use 4.
Seams like very few options or where the trees just not fully done?

Very this.

There are 19 ascendancy classes in PoE2 and 38 ascendancy classes in PoE 4.0. Nothing needs to be confusing about that. I don't think it's on the devs that some people are stupid and conflating different things.

There is no such thing as "the game PoE2". PoE2 is just a campaign. PoE is the game, and it will be on version 4.0. People need to just get that clear....

Maybe you can tell that to GGG then, who have decided to stop referring to that release as "POE 4.0" and start calling it "POE 2". For all we know, it might be a new .exe and be called "POE 2 v1.0". There's been no indication either way.
