Path of Exile: Mobile -- General discussion thread

The so-called official trailer:

GGG have not made any commitment on the launch date. But from what we can glimpse from the trailer, it does look good.

Yes, I'm super excited about it and being developed in-house, I have no doubt we can expect a smooth and seamless experience going back and forth between PC/ Console and Mobile.

Of course there will be Qs as well as feedback/ suggestions. So, I'll kick off...

1. I do hope this is not going to be a separate "instance". I'd like the games to be linked so when we finish a map on Mobile, the drops/ achievements can be carried over to the PC instance/ universe or whatever it will be called

2. Please don't make it a requirement to only run on flagship devices. Lots of good and affordable mid-range devices which is what many prefer to purchase anyway.

3. Mobile... Does this also include Switch?

4. And, when it's time for alpha/ beta testing, do look from within (from the community). I'm very sure many here would be happy to sign up as testers.

I find it "ok" to have a mobile version of the game.
I won't play it, i will rather stream the original game onto my phone and play via a controller

Is this an out of season April Fool's joke?

Nope, it's a SKUNKWORKS project so it smells of Tencent Mobile Ltd. overlords heavy hands pressuring GGG to produce a mobile version of PoE. With billions of Chinese and cell phones their smaller hands (on average) can work the tiny touch screen easier than most of us. GGG will probably let Garena have it first (with p2w features added of course) and wait and see how well it goes over in China before deciding if the rest of the world should get it.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

It's a different game. You can play it, or not. It's not taking anything away from the game we play. The developers working on it aren't neglecting the core game. If anything we need to give them a diversion to keep them from getting stale. Let them have their phone game.

I'll play it, just to see what they come up with. I doubt I'll play it much. I prefer puzzle games on my phone.
As allways i hope for an offline mode!!

I mean call it a mobile game if you have to be conected all the time to mobile net for playing, is not what i call a mobile game.

I will play if it is/has ofline mode
I support the concept of this product, and I would probably play it if I played phone games, but I don't because my eyesight is terrible, and I can't deal with the small screen.

I may even try to persevere my way through, I dunno, but it did look like it could be fun.

Chris talks about mobile version in a Q+A
The impression I was given listening to the dev talk on the Twitch stream was more along the lines of Vulkan support will, as a result, also make it relatively easy to support Linux and Mobile.

So this isn't a Diablo Immortals situation. It is 'yes, this game will be available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Mobile'. It's the same game, across all platforms. Hell, it'll probably have cross-play functionality.

Path of Exile already has a microtransaction store. Unlike *SOME* I could mention, however, it is neither predatory, nor 'pay to win' (with outliers like Currency Tab being in a grey area and borderline). This isn't going away, but is it not going to spontaneously become more predatory or pay to win by adding the mobile platform into the menu of options available to the user.

I don't expect many people will have an interest in it for obvious reasons, but I will say that this is probably one of the most responsible mobile roll-outs I've seen.

i have to say... this is probably the only really positive reply I've seen on this thread.

personally, i'm loving the idea. partly coz i do run around a lot and lugging a 15" gaming laptop is just no fun. i do have my phone with my most of the time. screen is decent enough and well, like some replies earlier.. maybe i have tiny hands [/s].

i am not sure those who replied have actually watched the video. they did explain it is developed in-house (unlike Diablo) and GGG have one dedicated person for developing this.

and they said the are likely to be focusing on the mapping, which is usually small and fast. and i quite like this. if it's connected, the we could do out mapping while on the go. or while on our throne (aka toilet). ;)
