Detailed Info about Sao Paulo GW issues
As we know, players are getting lag or rollback in some instance, while many other instances are running pretty fine. So I tried to track some of the problematic instances along the day, and I found that IP from those instances tend to repeat. I didn't found anything special on MTR test, but will share them, maybe someone can find something useful.
Firstly I will show a MTR of a good server (no lag here): Ok, now the next three are the one that I found laggy instances: 177.54.151.115 was the most problematic, appearing the most of times. The next one was from a rollback. I only got only one case today. There was no lag here. Only a rollback. Although situation looks a lot better than last week, it seems that it's still happening now and then. Last bumped on Jun 25, 2019, 9:41:00 PM

So, I'm keeping the tests. Today the first map I played was on one of the laggy servers I mentioned (177.54.151.118).
Started the map actually at playable conditions, suddenly it got pretty bad, high latency pikes. So I started a MTR test while still on the laggy map (results below). Server got better after around 200 packages sent on MTR test, but I kept running the test a little bit longer. I'm uploading a video to show how it looks like to play on the laggy server. I will post it soon. Last edited by DEvil27 on Jun 24, 2019, 5:54:07 PM

video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxcGxjAosO8&feature=youtu.be
As you can see, lag happens only when there is action. It seems fine while just moving, but when you get near mobs, it gets pretty unplayable. If I quit the map and enter another area, game runs just fine, because the new instance is on a different IP. Last edited by DEvil27 on Jun 24, 2019, 6:42:41 PM

" Here I have the exactly same problem. It seems to have to do with instances, which is more evident looking at the information you shared here. Here is a map where I got the problem you described above: Its unplayable. I get this "rollercoaster" latency graph when what is showed on your video is happening to me. And it is completely random. I may be getting a good latency/stability, then I open a map and that map (and that map only) is completely fucked up. And another problem, that happens to me very often, is this: Sometimes the map opens, but then I get the message "Error: Failed to join any instances" when I try to enter it. Usually this happens after/during the problem you described (that were happening when I took the first screenshot). As someone said in the other thread, playing in the SP server is a gamble. Everytime you open a map or try to join an area, you toss a coin and hope for the best. When you open an important boss arena or a good map, you just pray for this to not happen. I hope GGG look up into this, but honestly, I already lost any hope that the SP server will be fixed someday. Last edited by Freakey_ on Jun 25, 2019, 2:14:06 AM

+1 from Argentina.
Thank you very much for your post, it is the exact same thing from Buenos Aires. Just add about 45ms in the ping graph but otherwise it's the exact same behavior. Some instances are perfectly fine, others are a complete mess. If you get kicked out you almost never have the portals of the map you were running. Sometimes one enters a map and it looks like one of the good ones, but after some random amount of time, out of nowhere, ping goes crazy just like in one of the bad instances. It’s exactly as you described. Same thing with the “Activation failed” message. Also sometimes I can’t portal from a map to my hideout (even in a good instance). “Failed to join instance”. Needless to say, we are more than happy to run as many tests as you need, just let us know! Last Sunday I just stopped playing... I love the game, I'm 5k+ hours in, but I just know I'll never open an endgame boss map if I have a 50/50 chance to get a bad instance, get kicked out and lose the portals... so what's the point? We could really use an answer from the staff, just so we know you know... I’ll sleep better with a random “Yeah, we are working on it.” | |
Thx guys to confirm the description. If possible let try to help them to track the servers with issues.
- Go to pathofexile.exe folder (usually on C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile) - Then access "logs" folder, and open "Client.txt" there. - Go at the end of the list, and try to get the laggy/rollback server's IP, based on the time showed on the logs. - Run a WinMTR test ( if possible while the lag is occuring) and post here to help the Devs to solve the problem. Thank you all! Last edited by DEvil27 on Jun 24, 2019, 9:11:33 PM

The game is good but these problems are VERY frustrating... GGG please look into Sao Paulo server. We need more investment in servers and game optimization! I don't even know how many times I died because of some mini "rollback". Impossible to play hardcore mode.

UP!
Another map where I got the same issue as seen in the video posted by DEvil27 (heavy lag and stuttering). The curious part is that the WinMTR test looks normal. Another curious thing is that I got a Zana inside that map (and it was the same map type, both were a Defiled Cathedral), and, when entered the new map, there was no problem at all, perfectly normal latency. Latency graph from the "bad" map. Heavy lagging and heavy stuttering, but this happens only when I start to hit mobs. While walking or picking up things, it does not happen. Latency graph from the Zana map found inside the "bad" map. Normal (for the SP gateway standards). WinMTR from the "bad" map. WinMTR from the Zana map found inside the "bad" map. This is very weird. |
