Difference between Axes, Maces, Swords?
Is there any difference between Axes, Maces, Swords? Or is it just what you prefer playiN with?

To me it has always been the looks :)
Axes or swords if I ain't using daggers (I tend to be a stealthy char in every game when given the opportunity). Maces never been my 'thing' Last edited by Toxicbrain#7201 on Apr 4, 2012, 12:41:01 PM

You can take a look at item data on the right, and at my sig.
Basically, mace requires only str, axe requires str and dex (but less dex) and sword requires str and dex (same amount). Mace has a stun bonus and sword has a accuracy rating bonus, axe has no bonus. As for attack speed, sword > axe > mace. PoE forums ignore list script:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/162657 0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally. | |

To expand on kodr's explanation, each weapon type has its own "implicit mod": a bonus to a particular stat that shows up regardless of quality or enchantment.
Maces get stun duration. Axes get more base damage. Slashing swords get accuracy. Thrusting swords (pure-dexterity requirement) get critical strike multiplier. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |
