New restaurant opened up near where I work.
It's a seafood place, and it's really good. The prices aren't too bad, and they have 50% off during their grand opening, so I got a lobster tail + 6 wings, with 2 sides for $14.
The thing is, there have been 5 restaurants in this spot in the last 3 years. All of them had decent food, and the location is great. It was grand opening, and the manager was walking around asking people how the food was, this was during lunch break, so it wasn't too busy. When I first walked in, I heard the waitresses talking about how the computers in the place were having issues, the internet was crapping out, and their phones were getting fluctuating service. They also talked about the manager needing a jump for his car. (This was my cue) Anyway, I had a chat with the manager, and asked him if he was familiar with the history of this location. About 5 restaurants being at this location in 3 years. He said he was from Ohio, and transferred for this position, and he wasn't aware of it. I asked him if the rent was high, and he responded that the rent wasn't too bad, and they got a good deal on their lease. So I told him, you know why this location has such a high turnover rate? It piqued his interest. There is a geomagnetic anomaly right under this restaurant, and previous establishments have had nothing but issues getting their electronics to function with any consistency, and batteries of the cars parked outside would just go dead, randomly. You all should have seen the look on this guy's face! Of course, he didn't know that I overheard the waitresses talking about these issues, so I decided to come up with a line up bullshit mixed in with a little bit of truth, in a way that made it seem like a remarkable coincidence, which served to give the claims validity. I bet this guy is on the internet right now looking up geomagnetic anomalies! Trolololol! Last bumped on Jun 28, 2019, 7:38:19 PM

Reminds me of an article I read a few months ago about a store in Canada that was perplexing everyone.

I love messing with people's heads. To me, it's like a game.
I like instigating conflicts as well. I got to know one of the plumbers who occasionally comes here to do major projects, and he told me he was mad that they weren't giving him enough work, and he thought the regional corporate guy was fucking him over. His name was Mike. I told Mike, yeah Joe is coming over tomorrow to make a bid, so Mike asked me to sorta play middle man and figure out what's going on. Anyway, Joe (from corporate) could have played cast for Deliverance, but when it came to plumbing, he knew his stuff. He talked like a sailor, too, and I got the impression that he just generally didn't give a fuck what anyone thought. He was cussing around the residents as well. Textbook definition of based. But hey, he's an old plumber, not a PR guy. 2 weeks later, I saw Mike, and asked him how work is going? He said they're not giving him enough hours. You wanna know what Joe said? He said you couldn't plumb his nuts. He sorta laughs and says "That sounds like something Joe might say". I already knew that too, because Joe looked at some old plumbing work, to make a bid to redo all the drain pipes on one side of a building, and his comment was "Whoever did this couldn't plumb my nuts". What does Mike do? He gets right on the phone and cusses Joe out, and quits right on the spot, and stomps away, mad, hops in his van, and peels tires driving out of the parking lot, and almost t-bones someone backing out! Meanwhile, I'm standing there dying laughing. This is just too fucking easy. I mean, really? Are people this easily manipulated for my personal enjoyment? |
