LA + Chain Damage calculation

Hopefully someone can explain the math to me but I am trying to figure out how an ability is affected by Chain's damage modifications.

My base dps on LA without Chain in town is 939.9. Assuming a level 1 Chain, I would be put at half that dps: 469.8.

939.9*.5 = 469.8

My chain is level 18, so it gains 32% damage. The question is, when is this amount calculated. If it changes the total reduction as a difference between the 50% reduction and the 32% increase, I would effectively be fighting at a reduction of 82% instead of 50%.

939.9*.82 = 770.472 dps

If the 32% is based off the new dps AFTER the 50% reduction:

939.9*.5*1.32 = 620.334 dps.

The problem, however, is neither of these values are correct. When I put on my Chain I am at a dps of 519.7.

I am effectively fighting at 55% of my original base dps. Am I calculating incorrectly? More importantly, how are these percentages figured into the dps?

**I'm finding similar discrepancies among LMP as well. I lose 30% projectile damage but gaining 32% projectile damage, shouldn't I effectively be at a higher dps than base by 2%?

Edit: I'm not using this as a QQ post, I don't care if the damage stays the same or changes from the outcome of this thread, I just want to understand the math so I can justify the differences.

Damage reduction is multiplicative, dmg increase additive. Multiplicative damage reduction applies after additive modifiers. DMG * ( additive + additive + additive ) * or / multiplicative.

If I do the increase first:

939.6*1.32 = 1240.272

Then the reduction:

1240.272*.5 = 620.136

This is still the same as doing the reduction first then the increase. PEMDAS (order of multiplication does not matter),

939.6*.5*1.32 = 620.136

In other terms, unless the additive 32% is calculated differently, then there is no difference.

Also, what I'm wanting to take into notice is that the tooltip confuses the player as to when what percentages are figured. Most players, without searching forums to find the math, will assume they are supposed to be gaining more damage than what is actually showing when hovering over the skill in bind.

EDIT: I got it a little closer to the value. I had to figure out all my passives:

x*(1 + node + node + node + node) = 939.6
x = 489.375

489.375*(1 + nodes + .32)*.5 = 548.1 --- About 30 dps higher than what I have. But closer.
