PS Plus vs XBox Live

As I read, the ps4 version wont require a ps plus subscription. Is something like this coming to xbox or will we have to keep paying MS to enjoy PoE in multiplayer?

You can play without a premium subscription for either console. This includes using the tradeboard. But in order to play in a group / other people, you must have XBL Gold or PS Plus.

The PS Store states you need ps plus for online multiplayer, downloading it now, I am curious if sony or ggg is telling the truth.
