Lump in back of my left calf muscle!
I saw my doctor today about a lump on the back on my left calf muscle on the right side.
-When my muscle is relaxed it isn't visible. -When I tense my muscle a certain way, it becomes visible. NOTE: I have been sedentary for the past few months so there is very little chance it's an injury from exercising since I haven't been lately. It doesn't hurt 99% of the time. Sometimes it feels tingly but not much. When I walk, sometimes I can feel that it is there and sometimes it isn't noticeable. My doctor told me to get an ultrasound. Today, I got an ultrasound and they didn't find anything. At the same time, there are a lot of things an ultrasound can't see. My doctor also said it could be a muscle poking out of the membrane that holds it in (Like a hernia) but I'm not sure how that is possible if I don't recall injuring my leg. I am worried about it. Waiting for my doctor to call. UGH! twitch.tv/ironman_isomer

" I'll throw in my 2 cents since I just got my degree: Your doctor might be correct. The only other likely option would be a large lump of fat, or a lipoma as it's put. But those tend to show up on USG if examined anyway. If you're really concerned about it you could have a CT scan done of that leg. RE: possibility of injury, this sort of thing sometimes happens without the likelihood of injury to. Sometimes the muscle becomes too big for its boundaries, or the membrane for whatever reason doesn't keep up with development and can no longer hold it in place. That's all I've got to say in a nutshell. 1337 21gn17ur3
