[3.6] Warchief Brutus Sprinkler, tanky and OP single target

Welcome to my guide on ancestral warchief totem, using brutus lead sprinkler!

I was inspired by waggle's video on this decided to roll a bruwarchieftain. Seeing there's no guide or post on this, I will try to share my experience on playing this awesome build.

3.5 shits (may be outdated but showcase this build fine enough)

My POB at lvl 90, updated for 3.6:
https://pastebin.com/MK3BPyR8
(easier as you don't keep up endurance etc, but quite a bit weaker)
(Really shitty gear)

I will be adding my take and how I adjust for the pleb version of this build (budget version).

PROS
Spoiler

- tanky (9k life at 90) with decent armor (20k or so)
- decent regen (1k lps)
- totem playstyle is very safe with 5 totems to hide behind of
- totems leech
- very cheap gear
- can do almost all content (ele reflect, enfeeble, no leech, no regen).
- only map mod we cant do is a combination of both no leech and no regen.

CONS
Spoiler

- clear speed is mediocre/slow
- totem playstyle is not for everyone
- no regen & no leech mods combo is impossible - still better than most builds though
- run speed is slow therefore not a good delve runner (personally)
- no flashy herald effect

GEM LINKS
Spoiler

6 Links warchief
Ancestral warchief - EDWA - Ruthless -Ele focus - conc effect* - damage on full life*

* = Replace conc effect with inc aoe and dmg on full life with multiple totems for fast easy mapping.

4 links protector
Ancestral protector - edwa - combustion - multiple totems

4 links mobility
Shield charge - leap slam - faster attack - fortify

3 links flammability
Flammability - faster casting - increased duration or inc aoe (try and pick which one works better for you)

3 links CWDT
CWDT - Immortal call - cold snap (to generate frenzy)

GEARS
Spoiler

WEAPON: Brutus Lead Sprinkler. Build enabling unique. Very cheap for its power. You can start using it at lvl 28. The attack speed roll is the only one that matters. Get as close to 20% ias when you buy.

Shield: Tukohama's Fortress. Additional totem, +armor per totem. Dirt cheap also.

Alternative: trolltimber spire until you can put on tukohama (lvl 61)

HEAD: Rare helm with strength, resists and delve crafted with -fire resist to nearby enemies (scorched fossil)

Budget version: take off any of the above stats (probably delve craft) or deidbellow

CHEST: Loreweave

Budget version: tabula rasa or any rare 5L/6L with decent life.

Gloves: tombfist (1 abyssal jewel version is fine)

Budget version: meginord's vise (better at low lvl during lvling before you can use tombfist)

Boots: alberon's warpath. Dirt cheap. No alternative.

Amulet: Xoph's Heart. Main thing is 10% strength and saves us 2/3 skill points. As chieftain we already cover with ash, so it is a moot point.

Budget version: rare amulet with 100+ strength, 100+ life, and some int/dex to cover your stat needs (faster attack needs dex, and inc aoe/conc aoe needs int). You can use astramentis while leveling

Rings: rare rings with strength, life, resists, and EDWA preferably. Kinda hard to fit attack speed and inc fire damage into ring as they are both suffixes.

JEWELS
Spoiler

In tombfist, get a murderous jewel to enable intimidate (10% MORE DMG TAKEN)
Ideal stats for the murderous:
+Max life
2% Dmg penetration if you havent killed recently (always on as you dont kill stuff)

As BLS adds a ton of flat fire dmg from strength, abyss jewels kinda lose their effectiveness. Get regular jewels instead for the sockets in your tree.

Aim for any of these stats on your jewels:
+8% Attack speed with mace
+6% attack speed with shield
+7% life
+area damage
+Totem damage
+ Flat strength (not recommended imo as you get so much more from gear)
+ Resists (as needed)

MIGHT OF THE MEEK for the rich (roughly 1ex when I write this guide on 1/30/2019). This adds a shitton of life and strength to an already op character.

Place it below the scion life wheel.

LEVELING
Spoiler

You can level with smite or molten strike. I personally went with molten strike with wildfire jewel and LMP. Worked wonder until 28 when I could swap to warchief and brutus.

ASCENDANCIES

Spoiler

Normal: Ngamahu, Flame's Advance
Cruel: Hinekora, Death's Fury
Merciless: Arohongui, Moon's Presence
Uber: Tukohama, War's Herald

Note: Waggle went with Tawhoa, Forest's Strength for his last ascendancy. I personally prefer tankier totem and easier to do reflect mods with Tukohama. Try both and see what works better for you.

END NOTES

Spoiler

I tried this build after seeing waggle's video. After trying this out, I personally find this build has very good single target dps (my current budget build is at 1.2m shaper dps, while waggle is sitting at 3m shaper dps, both by just using 3x warchief + 2x protector, without flasking and vaal warchief!).

All that while having massive hp and safe totem playstyle. This is probably hands down the best char for tankyness purposes.

Also. The gears are dirt cheap atm.

Killed red elder deathless and so fast at 79

Gonna spawn uber elder and try to kill them with this guy soon.

I would strongly suggest lvling with pure breachstone as solo leveling with this build is super slow

Hey dude,
would you say this char has a nice HC- viability? I start my first char in HC, and i started with this guide:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1694250/page/1

But now I think, your build is maybe more tanky...
I still just at lvl 29 and can switch easily, what would be your take?
Would be nice if you can help an absolute HC beginner :-)
hey, man. Like the idea of this build, even i'm playing in SC. I'm practicing this build for next league. If doing this as a starter of a league, when would you suggest to get Ancestral Bond node? Should go with melee till having some 4L or 5L gear? I'd really appreciate it.

Waggle plays HC, so he built this with Hc In mind. He has almost 10k HP with loreweave, so the char is possibly the tankiest you can ever get (barring 20k ES builds).

And it is so cheap to start.

Not sure if this is a good league starter to be honest, as its clear speed is relatively slow compared to other starter builds (arc trap/mine, bv ele, worb).

You should definitely get ancestral bond (time it at around lvl 28 or shortly after that as you get warchief at 28).

Get brutus lead sprinkler at 28, equip meginord vise (the glove), astramentis, and you have like 400 str, which gives you way more dps than any other alternative.

Totems sexy like in old days you can get 12000 life on softcore)
but who play totems those days?)
same totem party to join? all totems and all up?
your totem must be UP 100% time.
