Death animations (and sounds) are far more important than you may think
The game is about killing enemies. This is what you do most of the time, this is where most of the fun is coming from. This is where the short- term motivation is coming from. But for this to really work, it is not enough that you know you have killed the enemy. You need to feel it, experience it, as much as possible. This is the function of death animations. There are indirect effects on other game aspects: The more fun it is to kill enemies, the more motivated am I to get the next skill or upgrade. Diablo 1 is good evidence for my case. If you play the warrior, there is not much skills you can use, and weapon upgrades are few. What keeps you going is the fun of killing, and the killing is fun mainly because of the death animations (and sound effects), which are great. |

True. Diablo 1's death animations can not be topped, in any way. But since only very very minority know Diablo 1, most people do not even mind this kind of threads.
I remember Diablo1reborn bro had created a topic about same issues in past, i also have mentioned by saying how important to consider them seriously; sad part is GGG seems like do not give high priority as much as it needs to be, since this is not a new issue. But still i wouldnt want to loose my faith on issues like these which contains audio part of monsters as well. "This is too good for you, very powerful ! We are have some upcoming things that aim at addressing this problem. A lot of things in Path of Exile have been made with limited resources, but we are also in a fortunate position where we can improve the game over time.
For example something really great will happen to the scavengers later this year. Omnitect of Wraeclast

Hmm, I'm not missing anything. As long as I can quickly glance at what is alive and what's not, I'm fine.
Whatever you do, don't make it a D3 power fest, where everything is hurled half across the screen in silly slow motion if you sneeze at it. Crits have impact in this game because normal attacks are just normal. ... is not a troll
