Next league should be the league with a FULLY OPERATION IN GAME AUCTION HOUSE...!
Chris is always saying stuff like how it would """RUIN""" the economy or game experience or whatever but does he any solid DATA to BACK THAT UP....! NO...! The only THING he can do is talk about HYPOTHETICALS or point to diablo 3 (Which is a COMPLETELY different GAEM...) So let's have a MERCHANT LEAGUE with a full AUCTION HOUSE...! Like WHY NOT...! They did BEASTIALITY league and that sucked and moved on... why not do an AUCTION HOUSE for a league too and see if it would REALLY ruin the gaem like CHRI$ says.... He certainly has the $$$ to fund the implementation ever since SELLING OUT to china! I would be one REALLY happy merchant if this league happens! What about u guys? Well, I think the problem with your comparison to Beastiary was that they didn't think Beastiary would be a complete flop so to them the work done was worthwhile. On the other hand, they already believe an AH would be bad (not to mention a lot of development work) and they'd go in believing it would end up being throw away work. I can certainly see why they'd be reluctant to take that approach. If having an AH was as simple as flipping a switch then maybe, but as it is I can't see them taking this suggestion seriously at all.
As far as data, while they don't have data to back up having an AH in POE they have the examples of other games. There have also been a lot of studies on gambling addiction, obsessive behavior, the psychology of achievement, etc., and I think they are using some of that information in their thought process regarding trade and, in fact, all of the pain points they purposely put in the game. This is just conjecture on their sources though. Maybe they're just dicks and like to watch us get apoplectic over a computer game. I don't believe that but sometimes it feels that way. Actually - why not?
There has been endless (and heated, as you see already) debate about how an Auction House would affect an economy, tons people stating their own "conjecture" on it (as above) so let's see it in action. Maybe combine it with some take on Perandus so the League still has some actual mechanic in the fights. But, hey, I would be open to something along those lines.
