Crawler took a detour

My crawler went the long way around to node next to the one I was starting from:

This might've happened to me too, not sure. I started a delve by stepping in the circle but the crawler went the other way, passed 2 delve waypoints(without triggering any encounters on these) before stopping on the third. My map doesn't quite match the detour explanation, as there are more than 2 delves in between my starting location and destination though. Either way, this happened to me near the mineshaft as well.
