Grinding Gear Games is looking for a Game Lighting Artist

Grinding Gear Games is looking for a lighting artist to create atmospheric lighting for levels in Path of Exile. You will create real-time evocative environments and moods, and work to maintain a consistent aesthetic across all of the areas in the game and related material like trailers. The ideal candidate has a firm grasp of color, materials and light as it relates to level design in games. We are looking for an avid gamer that has a deep understanding of our game Path of Exile and its themes.

Requirements

  • 1 year of lighting experience in games, or 5 years of work experience in a related field (movies, special effects).
  • Understanding how to create efficient and impactful lighting that enhances narratives.
  • Maintain and ensure optimised performance related to lighting.
  • Experience with Physically Based Rendering tools like Substance Designer and Marmoset Toolbag.
  • General understanding and ability to create cube maps, shaders and materials.
  • Working knowledge of Maya and real-time game authoring environments like Unreal engine.
  • Self-motivation and self-reliance; ability to research and learn new tools quickly.
  • Excellent communications skills, and ability to work within a team.
  • Passion for creating 'dark and gritty' levels and sets.
  • Deep understanding of the game we produce (Path of Exile).

Portfolio, and/or reel showing real-time lighting created for games is required.
Must be willing to complete an art test if requested to do so.
Job Status: Full-Time

Looks like GGG is looking to seriously improves their graphics now.
