6 Link a BoB without Vorici Possible?

i got a Belly of the beast, i was trying to 6 socket it, but item level was too low, (wich i did not notice but i knew), so i forced it with Vorici 350 Jewelers.
since day 2 of the league am Trying to 6 Link it, never had such difficulty to get a 6 Link. QUESTION: dose a BoB Item lvl 40 could be linked by spamming fusing on it or do i have to force it with Vorici? Last bumped on Jun 7, 2018, 1:50:21 AM

The maximum number of sockets obtainable through Jeweler's Orbs is determined by the item level.
The maximum number of links an item can get through Orbs of Fusing is not restricted in any way. If an item has 6 sockets (whether as a drop, by Jeweler's, or by Vorici), it can always get 6 links. " I was not able to find any GGG post explicitly confirming this, but this is very basic common knowledge. Just today, I started with an ilevel 30 chestpiece, which would normally be limited to four sockets. I used Vorici's bench to put six sockets into it. Then I used orbs of fusing to make it 5-linked. I know this is not exactly what you are asking for, but it at least disproves the idea that the ilevel limits for links are the same as for sockets.
