Lioneye's fall + Soul Raker : Why is it considered "BIS"?

I tried doing a test build in POB with lioneye's fall + soul raker and it was not very impressive. I basically get 2.7% DPS per point spent, which is not very point efficient. The extra life leech is pointless if you can hit leech cap with Blood Drinker (which I can) and you are taking Blood Drinker anyway. You do get mana leech so you don't have to spend an extra point elsewhere, which is cool.

I then modified the build, and put the 5 points elsewhere + put a damage jewel where Lioneye's Fall was. I got more damage out of it.

The only way I could get more damage out of Soul Raker with alternatives was if I was using top tier 2x phys damage jewels + 2x steel rings with multiple t1 mods (the kind that doesn't seem to exist in flashback).

This was with Ascendant Elementalist/Deadeye with a Doomfletch prism, so obviously it might work out differently if you are using a ranger and/or using a high phys damage bow like Lioneye's glare.

The test builds that I threw together (obviously not optimal) :

Soulraker : https://pastebin.com/sGnpA7hg

No Soulraker : https://pastebin.com/pf495TsU

Soul Raker is a leach node and the nodes leading up to it are crit nodes. Try it out on a crit build, or a build that doesn't deal phys damage.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Uh...if you look at the links i posted, those are for doomfletch prism crit builds...
? Nobody can explain why its considered "BIS"?
If you're running around with a 5% crit weapon, I'm not surprised you are wondering why crit nodes are a bit lacklustre.

Also you didn't get the two phys damage nodes behind it, they're pretty decent.

Who considers it BiS?

? Are you saying that its only BIS if you have a high crit weapon?

I think at this point 5 or 6 people have told me to get soul raker because everyone is doing it and its BIS...but when I run the numbers in POB it is not an efficient usage of points at all...just trying to understand why its considered BIS.
I personally wouldn't grab it on a 5% crit weapon build, unless I was relying on status effects being more consistent or something.

The whole thread is kind of weird though. Like, why not just ask the people who say it's best in slot? Nobody here has claimed it is best in slot. It seems like you're fighting invisible dragons.

Just run the numbers in PoB, and pick the best outcome for yourself. Who cares what other people think?

PS: I would also try the two setups with diamond flask on for both of them though, before you make any final decisions. Diamond flask is best for builds with as close to 50% crit chance as possible.

soul raker is the best node to leach for elemental damage as it is based on attack damage opposed to physical.

This allows you to run more conversion and ele penetration on your build making it much more effective against bosses.

Note that there is a watcher eye mod to convert phys to elemental damage using the respective aura.
This allows you to use higher physical based weapons with an elemental skill.

point for point , the crit + crit multi nodes leading up to it are unmatched for a bow user using lions eye.

Because they are good crit nodes and Soul Raker is the best leech node on the entire passive tree.

As far as i can see comparing your 2 trees here one of them has leech and one of them doesn't like is this really even a question? You've got a 0 recovery tree vs a tree with a very solid leech number (leech will heal more than any of your life flasks even with the +50%)

Now you can use the leech even without a lioneye's but most bow builds will take it so lioneye's becomes worth 60% crit chance, 45% multi which is a very nice jewel slot.
To even place the jewel itself costs 3 points. I am also not in agreement that it is BiS unless the build for some reason has to avoid going south to duelist area for leech? Perhaps some builds have to stay north of the tree for extra curse or totem nodes? Or for ES builds maybe.
