Leech Life when there is no Physical Damage?

A friend is working on a build where all of his physical damage is converted to fire damage via the Avatar of Fire keystone. We were wondering if life leech is nullified due to it no longer being physical damage, or if the life leech continues because it's an on-hit thing?


I'm not familiar enough with the mechanics and he's too lazy to post on the forum so here we are.

Most sources of life leech specifically state that they only work for physical damage. Those won't work if you're converting everything to fire. Sources of leech that don't only work for physical damage will work fine though.

Vitality Void and Blood Drinker are two passives on your tree that don't need physical for life leech to work. Or Soul Raker if you were using a claw. Life gain on hit will work too. Or if you play the Chieftan, Hinekora Death's Fury leeches life from fire damage.
