[3.1] Abyss starter-Unstable witch. Need help with items

Here is how it should work.

ELEMENTALIST!

Defense: Arctic armour + Cast when Damage Taken +Discharge

Supports-Herald of Ice, Herald of Thunder (Assassins mark and Curse on hit) for better crits and power charges, Vaal Clarity/Clarity

Damage- Lightning tendrils + Cast while Channelling Support + Ice spear + Power Charge On Critical + Arcane Surge Support

Orb of Storm for defense, damage and power charges.

Movement: Lightning warp with probably Faster Casting Support.

Evade base.

I might change few things, to implement spell echo somewhere.

You can get all mentioned skills within first 20 levels, due to being witch. After 20, you can start building support gems. The biggest lvl required for support is 38.

The passive tree relly heavily on power charges, crits chance, crit multi, cold and lightning damage. (Don't mind red numbers, i will cut down passive with items, that can compensate the loss from passive tree.

Now the problem is, i have no idea, what kind of item should i pursue. Logically the one with mana/crit/spell damage/electricity/cold etc, but is there some kind of unique (either item or jewel) that really would fit into this build? I woulg guess Forest is good start.

For lightning warp you really need a less duration link to make it feel not completely clunky. You could also just try out flame dash.

Also your tree has next to no life, which is the main issue here. You need to pick up life nodes, you have plenty near you, drop some inefficient damage ones. Otherwise you are going to just get 1 shot repeatedly by trash mobs.
Since reflect isnt an issue anymore and you are going the crit route, Inquisitor would be the better choice. Having no ele resistance issues on crits let you mix lightning and cold spells even better.

Dont use Arcane support with your main spell, rather use it in your movement or Orb setup.
Power Charge on Crit can be replaced with the new Storm Barrier gem which provides Power charges. You not even need artic armour then.

Try to get around 170% life increase from tree at minimum.
Dont use Discharge, it removes your power charges constantly which should be up all the time.
You are channeling, no need for Spell echo here.

Since your Charge generation is covered by Storm Barrier, Warlords mark is probably better since you are standing close to the mobs with hardly any defences.

Get a good mix of offence and defence, atm your tree is fully offence.
As a caster i wouldnt go for evade. Rather invest in life and/or ES.

Doryanis Catalyst would be a good weapon for this build.

Thanks for reply. Yeah, i playtest it and half of the supposed combos didn't work, so im heavily tweaking it.

I chose Elementalist because that elemental damage from ascendancy affects damage of herald thunderbolts, so Pendulum of Destruction as it is :)

Btw can one spell apply two curses with one "curse on hit gem"? Of course, when you can have more than 1 curse. I read somewhere, that it first apply one curse, then another, effectively applying 2 curses "at once".

My plan is using Orb of Storms as curse dealer, with warlord mark and assassin or warlord mark and Poacher's Mark, for either more power charges and crit chance with endurance charge or frenzy and endurance charges. I will probably end up with frenzy and endurance, because my crit chance will be enough and i will be getting power charges in mentioned new support channel spell and power charge on crit.

And yes, overcharge "on hit" was really bad idea (especially due to damage, but also destroying charges) :D Now it's normal cast with Elemental Proliferation, increase area and i will probably add one more thing, to help with damage (i guess added electricity isn't bad idea) or ice bite for even more charges :D

Yeah i will probably drop cold damage, due to using only one cold spell that work only as freeze/power charge enabler. (i might add damage taken on herald with ice releated spell). but it all depends on items.

And my teleport will be "damage taken" trigger with phase. This allow me to teleport right in to pack, trigger overcharge and teleport away. + i will add one more spell (either electric or cold) that will work as CC. Maybe cold snap, to exploit those charges and shatter.

To teleport right into packs on high tier maps you need a very tanky build. This build isnt a tank build therefore i wouldnt do that.

You can use Orb of Storm to curse the monsters. Curse on hit applies more than 1 curse. Just link it with the 2 curses you want.

Since the build lacks defences, Warlords Mark is highly recommended, probably Enfeeble as 2nd curse. Because of MoM you shouldnt use Blasphemy but running such an important curse like Warlords Mark in a Orb setup is a bit risky. It means every pack needs an Orb or you dont leech at all.

Heralds are just a small part of your damage and overall Inquisitor provides alot more damage, especially when going the crit route. Not only that, by using Sanctify and Pious Path you would get plenty of defences as well (high life and mana regen).

Elementalist is the worse choice. But if you want to play Elementalist, i would recommend to use elemental overload and not going for spell crit/multiplier. This saves plenty of points which need to be put into more important things like life nodes. You seem to ignore them or even plan around them, lol.
