shaped/elder items applied to unique items

Does it apply to unique items or rare only

Dunno. But if they apply to uniques, it's really going to be nonsense.

It only shows rare items but it doesn't have any mentions of unique. Just kinda curious. Im guessing those stones/jewel things are for upgrade item to shaped/elder item, will those maybe be able to "craft" unique to shaped/elder item?

Hmm just more tiers of items like "Ancient" and "Super ancient" in Diablo III

I'm reasonably sure those are only dropped rares. Well, who knows, maybe some magic items, as well.
There's a variety of theories, among the most likely being "the mods on those items are a single combo mod" and "the added supports correspond to affixes on the item that modify similar stats", like increased aoe + melee splash support.
Both wouldn't fit for unique items.

Shaped and elder items in all likelihood are just bases that have an extra selection of mods available to be rolled, they won't actually add additional affixes or anything.


Also, shaped/elder items and whatever abyss 'customization' mechanics are almost certainly unrelated.

I suppose if a unique item had 'random affix' slots on it, it could aka torchlight uniques.

but PoE doesnt have that (yet) so i'd say no they cant. Uniques have fixed affixes, although it might be neat to have that animated background? like the relic ones.

or maybe elder/shaper base items do have their own unique variants. very exciting for itemization.
