Will Whirling blades ever work normally?

I have 9k life res caped to handle ele weakness 50% block(and spell block) and 62% phys reduction without flasks , I die very rarely.I was fighting the spirit of the vaal, he started his slam animation and I swear to god I only pressed Whirling blades once to get behind him , it went and it imediately went back in his slam , like why?And this double whirling blades thing hapens quite often...Is there really no way to fix this?I get a bit of fps drops when blue random bearer packs die and it seems like this Whirling blade thing happens when ther's a bit of stagger or better said when it really needs to work is when it screws you over...

It would be better if a skill like whirling blade happened only once per key press. It's a problem when you have high attack speed and even worst when you use multistrike and you want to do it right after your attack is done but only once.

It's also too easy to get stuck in everything.
