Double Boss Plateau results in impotent rod

What I did: 1. Kill 1st ice totem boss 2. Kill 2nd ice totem boss 3. Kill 1st lightning totem boss Result: 2nd lightning totem boss sits there, dancing around, doing nothing threatening

If this doesn't always happen with double boss Plateau, then I'm guessing it has something to do with Bleeding and/or corpse destruction, as I know those two mechanics have caused issues in the past. Use a Gladiator dealing physical attack damage to recreate
