Why bother using "The Coming Calamity"

I don't understand why you would ever use this chest piece.
Each herald only costs 25% reservation, why would you want them to cost 45% each? Now if this item made the total cost for all heralds used it would be great 1 herald 45% 2 heralds 45% 3 heralds 45% is the big draw suppose to be the +2 to the levels of socketed herald gems? So a Vaal boost of +2 levels to max around +4-6? If someone could explain this item to me i would really appreciate it. Last bumped on Sep 2, 2017, 2:44:34 PM

The key is that they reserve 45% no matter how many support gems you support them with. A 6L Herald, or two 5Ls, might reserve over 100% of your mana. With this, no problem.

Anything that compliments the Herald. So like for ice you could go: cold pen, elemental damage, hypothermia, etc.

Playing an Assassin with Inc. Crit Strikes linked to your Heralds is actually a thing. They can reach good crit chances that way.
