Switch from steam to standalone client

Dear GGG,

If possible I'd like to change from the steam client to the standalone client. Is it possible to transfer characters so I don't lose progress?

Kind regards,

Epigenic

Hello,

You can log into the standalone client if your account has an e-mail address associated with it. GGG can help you with this if you send an e-mail to support@grindinggear.com.

Is this still valid information?

You dont need to ask the support anymore to link a e-mail to you poe account so you can log in without steam and use the Standalone client.

I had the this issue and wrote the support staff, here is the way you can do it:

Hi there,

Thanks for contacting us regarding this.

If you would like to associate an email address with your account, you can do this through the Path of Exile site.

Please log into our website on your Steam account, using "Sign in through STEAM" here: https://www.pathofexile.com/login

Next, you can add an email address through Manage account -> Change Email: https://www.pathofexile.com/my-account/change-email

Once you've done this, you should be able to log into the stand-alone client using your email address and password. If you have any difficulty setting up your email address, please let us know which address you tried to use, and we'll be happy to assist further.

Kind regards,
Ben
I was just about to suggest something along those lines. :)

You'll need to have an available email address to assign, as these need to be unique to one Path of Exile account. If you have any difficulty with this process, you're welcome to contact us at support@grindinggear.com as always.
This was still super helpful 5 years later.

Excellent and thank you
