Act 8 Doedre the Vile fight is utter garbage
Just finished the Doedre fight for Act 8 and am so pissed off I am immediately here posting on the forums.
Currently playing a simple ice shot ranger in softcore Harbinger, and this fight was beyond infuriating. I barely had enough time to maneuver around everything going on to have time to fire at Doedre. Which is fine on its own, I was actually enjoying the active playstyle in cramped spaces aspect. But Doedre's attacks are so chunky and quick I couldn't stand still long enough to fire at her without her almost 1-shotting me. Her teleport is the most egregious of all. There is no delay time long enough to recognize when she is teleporting, and where she shows up, to move away. If you want an instant teleport and damage, please please PLEASE do not make it do 2500 damage at once. Or at least make it recognizably obvious of where she will be after teleporting. Besides the ridiculous attack times and damage, Doedre also gets to regenerate energy shield while changing forms...........what the honest hell? How does that make any sense at all? Half of the fight was just whittling down that ending quarter of her energy shield to hit her once or twice and then have her transform again. The rest of the content is wonderful and I especially love playing the labyrinth now, but Act 8 Doedre is awful beyond belief. Did you forgot to close the vault ? I die once before notice it, after notice it, I defeat without much trouble as before also I find her position by follow my golem; just keep close the vault she will back into her pot for recharge.

The valve, you mean?
I'm currently stuck on Doedre as well, even when I know to turn the valve. Not sure if it's a L2P issue or if she's genuinely overtuned, but the fact that I'm a lvl64 Raider who carves through all the monsters in her area like butter but can barely scratch her adds and gets one-shot by her regularly means that it's probably one of those two things. It actually makes me stop playing. I give it a try, die, and then go play something else for a few hours. I've been stuck at this wall for days now. It's not fun to play the same area over and over again. (And I'm not interested in zerging her, because that feels like cheating and isn't any fun either.) Wash your hands, Exile!

Pay attention to the mechanics.
You can basically change between 3 fight phases by clicking the valve, the "green" mode with zombies debuffs you with up to -70% damage done but you can refill flasks and Doedre does very little damage. Just use this mode to refill flasks then click the valve again. In the "purple" mode she does a lot of damage but you also can damage her normally. I didn't get to see much of the "red" mode other than the fact that she slows you a lot. |

Edit: Never mind, I just found this. It explains things well. My -30% chaos res is probably not helping me survive. Maybe I should just give up playing this league and go back to Standard, where I have decent gear despite being SSF. :/ Like I said, this boss is NOT fun. I don't mind manual dodging (I'm one of the few players who enjoys fighting Malachai), but there's a lot going on here that isn't telegraphed well. I did it with negative chaos resists as well, with around 1.8k HP and SSF junk gear, just click the valve to spawn zombies if you think you're going to die and run a lot. As a general rule for most bosses in this game, never stop moving or you'll get blasted by something.

" I get one-shotted IN the zombie phase. Edit: Fuck it, I zerged her. NOT fun, and NOT satisfying, and NOT challenging in any meaningful way. The red blobs which sometimes cannot be avoided coupled with her instant-teleport-explode-in-your-face dynamic made it impossible for me to beat her otherwise, even after carefully studying all the mechanics. And you know what I did after I beat her? I shut down the game. I think I'll take a break from PoE for a while. This was not a good experience for me, and from what I hear it only gets worse with Kitava. And there are other things which really disappointed me about this expansion, the lack of QA and polish being the biggest thing. Some of these are likely to be fixed as well during my absence.
