melee staff build - need your opinions


So I had this staff just drop for me, and I have no idea what I would do with a melee staff. It's the craziest melee staff I've ever seen, so I feel as though I have to make use of it. I'm going to dump fusings into it until I get a 5/6L.

How would you use it? Please share your thoughts!

Melee is barely viable at all, much less in HC. The staff is great, this is true, but you're not gonna be able to use it the way you want to.

If you're completely serious about making a build around that staff, start at the Templar tree (i.e. make a Templar) then just work your way to every possible Life node that you can reach. Probably won't even make it to the level needed to even equip the staff, but hey, it's all you man.
maybe something like that, with Heavy Strike, Ground Slam (with stun support), Leap, Molten Shell.
Then you can add whatever you want: auras, skelly-totem, conversion trap, vulnerability...

The character I found it on is an 81 heavy strike/sweep marauder on hardcore (99% solo as well).



I'm probably better off waiting for the new abilities to come out and see if anything fits better than current skills.

4 flicker strike gems, molten shell, enduring cry and enfeeble. put em all together and you got your melee build. Or you could borrow Oaks build instead, He's pretty strong I guess.

staff melee build for hardcore is very unlikely to work

due to staff inate high dmg my best bet would be to get as much chance to crit/hp as you can, that way you can clear mobs in 1-2 blows before getting sorrounded and gang banged.

staff requires int he would needs lots of +int items with that build.

i am not 100% sure on this one but i think sweep benefits from "increase aoe" nodes and skills wich can boos your aoe range by 50-70%, if so would it be to sily to consider a pure increase aoe sweep?.
