When playing PoE, weird Static/Buzzing noise in headset
Hello,
I've had this issue ever since I started playing Path of Exile. So basically, when I launch PoE I am getting this weird buzzing sound in my headset, even if I set the games volume to 0 through in-game and sound mixer. The "static/white noise/buzzing" sound only stops when I enter the passive skill tree or turn down my headset volume (little wheel on the side of my ear piece). I have noticed that the sound changes as I enter my stash, my inventory etc, it goes from buzzing to screeching to white noise etc. I tried googling and I didn't find anything that sounded like my problem, every thread on google had people get weird sounds from the PC itself but I am getting the buzzing sound coming from my headset. Just in case, Here are my general specs: ACER PREDATOR G9-791 i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz (8CPUs), ~2.6GHz (3.2GHz Turbo) 16GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 8GB I am using Sennheiser GAME ZERO Headset (Non USB) Last bumped on Feb 2, 2025, 8:58:29 AM

Removing the foreground FPS cap worked for me

Sounds like a typical laptop electromagnetic shielding issue, which presents itself as an audible buzz when your CPU/GPU is under strain. The only thing that I can see fixing it is externalizing your soundcard (e.g. to a USB DAC). You can mitigate it by various almost snake-oil methods but it'll never really go away unless you fix the shielding issue which the external DAC mainly accomplishes by distance between the components.

I don't know what is going on but from my side removing i had to keep it enabled but had to limit the fps to Less than what my computer was pushing
I was playing at 230 fps and the sound disappered (slowly) by decreasing the fps max... it got quiter and quiter until 150 fps at that i couldn't hear it same thing background fps I had to set it to 2 fps and it stopped buzzing in the back ground for me |
