"There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile."

Keep getting this problem. Every post i find related to this issue has to do with steam users, I use the standalone client. I tried adding "-- no patch" to the end of the the target file and restarting computer. Client opens to login screen (2.6.0k) then when i try to login i get the error "There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile." Please help.

1.) Make sure all Windows updates flagged as critical or important are installed. In Windows 7/8, manually check and install all of these. In Windows 10, make sure the automatic updates are functioning and successfully installing all of them.

2.) Make sure your current user is running with Administrator privs.

3.) Please perform a pack check on your client. Guide: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/18531.

4.) If you still have issues, completely uninstall PoE, reboot, delete any remaining folders for it: the install location and %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile, then download a fresh installer, install and let it download the asset files and patches.
