Red Maps - Do you Chisel/Alche them?

Do you normally chisel or alchemy your red maps to rare?

Do you know anyone who only Transmute & Alteration them for pack suze? Is this a good idea?

This is what I do.

T12+ Maps
Step 1 (Mandatory): Chisel white map to 20% (4 chisels needed). Scour map if needed
Step 2 (Mandatory): Alchemy it to rare
Step 3 (Optional): Chaos until pack size (20+)
Step 4 (Optional): Vaal it

I do step 1-3 for T13-14 maps. Step 4 for T15-16 maps. This assumes of course that you can handle the content.

I almost never use Transmute or Alterations.

Thank you. I'm just wondering if chiseling & alching is worth the money. It's almost 3 chaos added to map in cost, which is a lot.
Not really worth in respect to map pool sustenance ... 1-2 Alch will buy you T12 Estuary, 1c will buy you T12 Plateau, 2c will buy you T13 High Gardens, etc. You see it's much cheaper buying them actually. Pimping maps is only worth it really from T14 onwards. Other than that I just roll them magic with some easy pack size mod and be done with it.

If you want to maximise the loot, however, that's a different story.

Doing the same except not vaaling T16s - too risky.

These price are league-dependent. In Standard, for example, common T11 costs 1c, most T12 are 2-3c. And so on. But in challenge leagues spending currency could not worth it, agreed.

Maximizing loot (to perfection I mean) is not really worth it before T15 because you don't really want anything with ilvl < 84.

Thank you.
Even with buying maps at 1c, sometimes I feel like Im not really getting my money back, so dumping in another 2 - 3c from chisel & alching just doesnt make sense at all.
My suggestion (this is what i do):

1. while the map is white, use 4 chisels (1 chisel = 5% quality, while only 1% or 2% when map is yellow).
2. Alch it. it's up to your build, but when I see "player cannot regen" or "emenies reflect %" i use scouring and re-alch it.
3. On the map device, i put the map with fragment of sacrifice. i have tons of dawn/dusk.
They add 5% to quantity.

4. only if i need map for atlas completion, i vaal it. otherwise, a big no-no.

that's it.
