having some % pierce with chain

hello there , I've played with 100% pierce for the most part and recently got +1 Chain from deadeye and got rid of the pierce. But I ran into a scenario with a fairly large immortal pack and could't hit the main one with chain. So I got 40% pierce because pierce was clearing better anyway. So I'm curios if a projectile chains can it still pierce after?

The clear feels better but I can't figure that on out.

Yes. It's the same Projectile with the same modifiers, including 40% Pierce.

TY!
No, it can't pierce after, unless you use something like Slivertongue which specifically states that. The projectiles chance to pierce, fork or chain is checked at this specific order. A projectile may pierce several times. After it doesn't than it may fork, than after that it may chain. Projectiles with 100% chance to pierce cannot fork or chain.
If you're talking about a single hit, yes. However, that's not the case in this particular discussion; the theoretical case is that the projectile has Chained (meaning, did not Pierce) and hits a second enemy. It still has 40% chance to Pierce on that second Hit.

That just sounds like they have 100% pierce after so you won't need any pierce anywere else?So if i got 40% pierce it can chain after pierce but not pierce after chain?
Slivertongue gives 100% chance to Pierce if an arrow has Chained first, yes.

With below-100% Pierce, an arrow can Pierce one enemy, then Chain on the next, then Pierce another dude (or any combination thereof).

I ll just leave it like this and say that clear speed is better like this but I asked around and outta 10 people or so it's 50 50 no one is sure if they pierce after it rolled the +1 Chain...

So i tested it with a lvl 10 fireball with a dude and hes zombie.I stood between them and shot the zombie.it chained from the zombie did damage to him and the projectile continued so it can pierce after chaining ty lord :)
My understanding is it that projectiles follow a flow chart, with Pierce being priority. For example:

Did it Pierce?

If yes, Pierce and return to start.
If no, will it Fork?

If Yes, Fork and return to start.
If No, does it have any Chains left?

If Yes, Chain and return to start.
If No, projectile stops.

Meaning if you have enough enemies and a bit of luck, you can theoretically pierce, fork and chain with the same projectile. With potential for multiple pierces.

But it's also why 100% pierce projectiles won't be able to Fork/Chain ever because Pierce is the highest priority (Imagine if you could Chain Tornado Shot...)
