Attack Speed vs Cast Speed

Sorry for the NEWB Question

I am running a CI Flameblast build

I am thinking about upgrading my "Doryani's Catalyst"

Is Attack Speed irrelevant for this build?

Just trying to figure out what is important for upgrading my weapon through poe trade

Thanks

Attack speed affects Attacks.
Cast speed affects Spells.

Are you using any Attacks? (Whirling Blades/Shield Charge for movement for example?)
I wish I understood the mechanics more. This is my first season

I am using:
- Flameblast
- Orb of Storms
- Decoy Totem
- Vaal Lightning Trap
- Flame Dash

Essentially I use Decoy Totem followed by Orb of Storms followed by FlameBlast. I rarely use the other skills

Thanks

P.S. My toon seems pretty good (but only because I copied it after doing a lot of research)
If you're not using any Attacks, then Attack speed is useless for you.
Thank you

I hope I will start understanding the game more.

Once I am not a total idiot, I will look for a clan

Thanks again
You can distinguish between Attacks and Spells based on how their Damage is calculated: Attacks deal Damage based on your Weapon, whereas Spells have their own Damage listed on the Skill Gem.

Worth noting that Totems, Traps and Mines are not Cast, but instead placed/thrown/layed respectively. As such, they are not affected by Cast Speed.
Flameblast, Orb of Storms and Flame Dash are all Casts, and affected by Cast Speed.
