Blood Rage and Energy Shield
is it possible to combine these two? Won't blood rage prevent the es recharge from accuring when you are taking 4% maximum es damage every second? Or is there some way to bypass it

What if, we say, that i'm at 20% health with no nearby enemies? i can't use my health potions for the es, so i'm just doomed, or?

Yes, Blood Rage does prevent natural ES Recharge.
I'm not sure why Peter mentions Vaal Pact at all but Vaal Discipline is a much more sensible option: Vaal Discipline makes your ES Recharge entirely uninterruptible, and immediately starts ES Recharge - even with Blood Rage active. Zealot's Oath applies %Life Regen to ES instead; that can offset the Degeneration entirely and then some, with sufficient investment. Still prevents ES Recharge mind you. |

" Seems like a lot of work just to use Blood Rage and ES. But thanks for the answer. |

Use it in your weapon/shield. Just double swap to stop the buff. Keep in mind that it will also remove any auras socketed in those slots.
Or just unsocket it and put it back in. My build guides:

Apart from the options mentioned above, take a look at the Occultist's Wicked Ward/Vile Bastion line.
Wicked Ward will prevent any damage from interrupting ES recharge for the first 4 seconds. So you can pop Blood Rage just after the ES recharge starts, let it run for about 3 seconds, then quickly weapon swap to interrupt it and let your ES recharge. Clunky, but that's what you get for only 2 ascendancy points. If you go for Vile Bastion, you will get a stacking 0.5% ES regen on kill for 4 seconds, which can be enough to offset BR entirely if your clearspeed is good enough. |

Any and all forms of degeneration, including Blood Rage, will prevent natural ES recharge. ES can be regenerated or leeched via Vile Bastion, Zealot's Oath, or Ghost Reaver for a net positive regen effect, but you need to stop taking damage for ES to recharge. Degen counts as taking damage. This can't be bypassed, save by doing some of the aforementioned things to disable Blood Rage and stop taking damage.

the biggest problem with blood rage is the bug that won't let you right click it in the status bar to dismiss it like you can with other buffs.
