Help me choose: Incinerate vs Scorching Ray for CwC build
Working on a CwC build. I've narrowed my choice down to two skills as the channeling skill: Incinerate and Scorching Ray.
I haven't played Incinerate in a long time. Do the streams still overlap if you get right up on a monster? I remember they removed shotgunning, so my gut instinct is no. What would you guys choose out of the two and why? Last bumped on Mar 6, 2017, 10:25:44 AM

If you aren't triggering any 'on hit' effect, Scorching ray is a better choice because of higher range and res debuff. Right, there's no shotgunning anymore.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Absolutely go with scorching ray. If you're doing CWC firestorm, scorching ray will reduce the fire resist of whatever monster you're targeting, increasing the damage of firestorm. Incinerate will not do this, and won't do much damage on top of that anyway.
Additionally, incinerate scales its damage off of different gems than firestorm- incinerate uses projectile damage and speed, firestorm uses area damage and radius/aoe. Scorching ray doesn't scale off of either of these, and it doesn't need to- it scales just fine off of just fire/elemental damage. |
